"Economy and tourism" and "Trade and industry" Omani enhance their cooperation

Abu Dhabi, June 23 / WAM / The Competition Department at the Ministry of Economy and Tourism in the Emirates held a coordination meeting with the Center for Competition Protection and the Prevention of Monopolies at the Ministry of Trade and Industry and the Promotion of Investment in the Sultanate of Oman, with the aim of enhancing joint cooperation and exchanging experiences in supporting competition and enabling sound commercial practices in the various economic and technological sectors, especially rapidly growing.
During their meeting, the two sides focused on the mechanisms and roads that monitor monopolistic behaviors in the digital markets, and activate law enforcement tools to ensure transparent and fair business environments, stimulate the increase in private sector investments, and affirmed the importance of exchanging technical expertise and building human capabilities, in a way that enhances the position of the two brotherly countries in regional and international forums related to competitive policies.
The meeting witnessed a review of the experience of the UAE in organizing the competition process in the UAE market in the e -commerce sector, especially e -commerce platforms, in addition to procedures for addressing its complaints, in accordance with Federal Law No. 36 of 2023 regarding the regulation of competition.
At the end of the meeting, the two parties agreed to enhance joint cooperation during the next stage in developing a plan that includes organizing technical workshops on the economy of digital platforms, and exchanging data and experiences to support studies and research with a cross -border dimension.
