The Minister of Higher Education praises the progress of state universities in a classification "QS" World 2026
Abu Dhabi, June 24 / WAM / His Excellency Dr. Abdul Rahman Al -Awar, Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisation, Acting Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, affirmed that higher education institutions in the country in the Global QS Classification of Universities for 2026 reflect the continuous efforts to enhance the competitiveness of the academic sector in the UAE.
His Excellency pointed out that “the results of the classification for this year are a clear evidence that higher education institutions in the country are going with a steady pace for achieving academic and research excellence and enhancing their global presence.”
His Excellency affirmed the Ministry’s commitment to support and enable higher education institutions to enhance its global competitiveness by providing it with the tools it needs to assess performance and raise the efficiency of the outputs, pointing in this regard to the strategic cooperation that the ministry has concluded with the QS and Times High Education institutions to enhance the efficiency of the higher education sector in the country. He said, “We believe in the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research that global competitiveness begins to build a brief and flexible educational environment, to align university programs with national priorities, and provide graduates with future skills that open the doors of excellence and knowledge.”
Seven high education institutions in the country have advanced in the QS classification for this year, which witnessed the evaluation of more than 8,000 universities around the world. 1,500 educational institutions were added from them to the classification, where Khalifa University of Science and Technology advanced 25 ranks and ranked 177 globally to be among the best 200 universities in the world, followed by the United Arab Emirates University in 229 where it is ranked 32 ranks, and the American University in Sharjah ranked 272 with a progress of 60 ranked comparison In the previous classification, Sharjah University, which advanced 106 ranks to the classification of 328 globally, Abu Dhabi University ranked 391 with a progress of 110 ranks, Ajman University, which has advanced 37 ranks to reach 440, and Zayed University is ranked 595 globally after its classification was between 621 and 630 globally.
The classification revealed the progress of higher education institutions in the country in a large number of major indicators related to higher education, including the percentage of international faculty members, the diversity of international students, the results of employment, and the percentage of members of academic bodies to students and other indicators.
His Excellency Dr. Al -Awar added that these classifications reflect a tangible development in the academic and research performance of academic institutions in the country, as well as in the association of the outputs of these institutions with the needs of the labor market.
His Excellency explained that these successes represent an additional step towards building a high competitive and sustainable education system, which is an effective part of the state’s march towards a leading knowledge economy worldwide.
