Dubai Police launches an awareness of drug control

Dubai, June 30 / WAM / The Dubai Police General Command launched the activities of the Awareness Exhibition for Narcotics Control in Dubai Festival City, which will continue until the second of next July, under the slogan “A conscious family … a safe community”, with the participation of a number of health and community agencies, as well as a number of internal departments and partners from the Dubai Police.
Brigadier Dr. Abdel -Rahman Sharaf Al -Maamari, Director of the International Protection Center in the General Administration of Narcotics Control, stressed that the organization of the exhibition comes within the framework of the Dubai Police’s keenness to participate actively in global occasions, including the International Day for Narcotics Control, because of its important role in raising the level of community awareness and enhancing ways to prevent the drug scourge and psychotropic substances.
He explained that the exhibition is an interactive platform that brings together awareness and treatment specialists with members of society, and enables visitors to present their inquiries and discuss the challenges they face, especially parents who want to protect their children from falling into the trap of addiction, calling on the public to visit the exhibition and benefit from the programs presented and information provided by the participating authorities.
The first day of the exhibition witnessed an effective participation of the Erda Center for Treatment and Rehabilitation and the Dubai Health Authority, in addition to the E-CRIME service to report electronic crimes within the Dubai Smart Police application, where the protection and treatment efforts and the importance of early discovery were highlighted.
Dr. Abdullah Al -Ansari, Director of Awareness and Social Support Department at the Erda Center for Treatment and Rehabilitation in Dubai, explained that the center’s participation in the exhibition reflects the strategic partnership with the Dubai Police in community awareness, noting that the center’s platform provides an explanation of the available therapeutic and awareness services, and answers visitors’ inquiries in complete privacy.
In the same context, Amina Mal Allah Ghanem, a health education specialist at the Dubai Health Authority, stressed that the authority’s participation includes the presentation of a comprehensive awareness program that includes ways of preventing drugs, psychological addiction effects, and available treatment options, as well as spreading awareness messages on promoting health behaviors.
First Lieutenant Ahmed Salem Al -Kaabi, Head of Community Programs Department at the International Protection Center, explained that the exhibition is identified by the public with a number of legal articles, including Article 89 of the Acts of Control of Narcotics Articles in the State, which allows the provision of treatment for users without legal prosecution in the event of progress voluntarily, and encourages family members to early intervention, along with Article 64 that provides for penalties associated with transferring money to purchase narcotic substances with the intention of abuse or use Personal.
