Regulating the reciprocal operation of the “flying taxi” and traditional helicopters

The General Civil Aviation Authority issued the first organizational list in the world for hybrid operations to take off and landing for the “flying taxi” and traditional helicopters, which enable electrical planes with takeoff and vertical landing “Evtols” and traditional helicopters from the exchange operation on the same infrastructure, in a move that confirms the leadership of the UAE global in the field of innovation in aviation.

The authority stated in a statement yesterday that this innovative organizational framework represents a qualitative shift in integrating advanced air mobility solutions (AAM) within the existing air systems, as it provides an active model in terms of cost to develop infrastructure, speeds up the readiness of operation, and is in line with the directives of the UAE government to apply highly efficient and non -bureaucratic solutions across various sectors.

The Director General of the General Authority of Civil Aviation, Saif Muhammad Al -Suwaidi, said: “The UAE has always been at the forefront of excellence in the aviation sector, and this leading regulatory regulation is not limited to its role to empower new technology, but also redefine how to develop aviation, and translates our commitment to innovation in developing a system supportive of the growth of this vital sector and a future in which the advanced air mobility integrates smoothly with our national infrastructure.”

He added that “the organization of hybrid operations comes as a result of close cooperation with international partners in the advanced air mobility sector, and is fully compatible with the UAE National Sustainability and Smart Mobility Vision and improving the exploitation of infrastructure.”

He pointed out that by enabling the dual use between traditional helicopters and vertical electrical aircraft arrotes, this procedure contributes to accelerating the implementation schedule, and achieves optimal employment of the sector’s infrastructure, and ensures the consolidation of the UAE’s position as a leader in embracing an integrated system that supports the future of aviation.

In turn, the Assistant Director General of the Aviation Safety Sector in the Authority, Eng. Aqeel Al -Zarouni, said: “This framework is a strategic empowerment factor, not only for new transportation patterns, but also for a more intelligent and flexible organizational environment, keeping pace with the emerging technologies without giving up safety standards.”

He added that “with the willingness of the global aviation community for the next air mobility, the UAE continues to set the leading standards,” stressing that “having an ambitious, long -term vision and advanced industrial capabilities and advanced infrastructure, constitutes the basic pillars of the success of merging advanced air mobility.”
