“Emirates Ring Economy” discusses the provision of an electronic trading platform for plastic materials

The Emirates Ring Economy Council discussed, in its second meeting of 2025, the importance of developing integrated digital platforms for the circular economy, especially a platform to support and empower small and medium enterprises, and startups operating in the fields of the circular economy in its various sectors.

The meeting, headed by the Minister of Economy and Tourism and Chairman of the Emirates Council for Ring Economy, Abdullah bin Touq Al -Marri, also discussed the provision of a specialized platform for electronic trading for plastic materials, with the aim of facilitating the purchases and sale of plastic materials safely via the Internet.

A statement issued yesterday stated that the council held its meeting in the Biofuels in Abu Dhabi, in the presence of Sheikha Shamma bint Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, President and CEO of independent accelerators of the Emirates Climate Change, along with members of the Council from representatives of the government and private sectors, where the meeting witnessed a review of the proposals of the second batch of the policies of the circular economy in the country, within the “UAE agenda” For the circular economy 2031 »in a number of vital sectors, such as sustainable transport, sustainable infrastructure, and clean industries.

Bin Touq stressed that the UAE, thanks to the directives of its rational leadership, was keen to adopt integrated and advanced national strategies and initiatives, to enhance sustainable economic and social development and establish the pillars of the future economy ».

He said: «We will continue to work through the council to enhance cooperation with the federal and local government agencies concerned and the private sector, in order to accelerate the pace of developing the policies of the circular economy in the country, among the four main sectors that include manufacturing, food, infrastructure and transportation.

In turn, Sheikha Shamma bint Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan said that the circular economy is not just an environmental commitment, but rather a strategic opportunity to achieve a long -term sustainable economic growth, noting that the UAE believes in its ability to convert challenges into achievements, and work continuously to empower entrepreneurs, and develop innovative solutions that contribute to converting waste into valuable resources.

The Emirates Council of Ring Economy meeting discussed the development of new innovative policies and projects, which includes building economic models that support projects and private sector companies working in this promising sector.

The Council also discussed the incentives and initiatives aimed at encouraging the establishment of projects and initiatives aimed at enhancing resource sustainability and adopting sustainable circular practices.
