Djokovic faces in the next Italian round Yannik Sinner, the world number one, who had qualified after defeating the American Ben Shelton, the tenth seed, with three groups without reply, with a score of (7-6), (6-4), (6-4), in two hours and 19 minutes.
The Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz, the world number one ranked and champions, booked his seat in the semi-finals after beating the British Cameron Nuri with three clean groups (6-2), (6-3), (6-3) in an hour and 39 minutes, to meet the American Taylor Fritz, the fifth seed.
In the women’s competitions, Swiss Blinda Pensic qualified for the semi-finals after beating Russian Mira Andreva, seventh, with two groups without a response, by (7-6) and (7-6), in a two-hour and 8-minute meeting, to hit an appointment with the Polish Ija Chefiontek.
The eighth-ranked “Chefionic” of the championship had booked her seat in the semi-finals for the first time in her career in the Wimbledon, after beating Russian Lyodella Samsunova, ranked 19, with a score of (6-2), (7-5), in an hour and 49 minutes.
