Abu Dhabi Customs discusses with a delegation from India to cooperate and partnership to facilitate inter -trade

Abu Dhabi, July 10 / WAM / The General Administration of Abu Dhabi Customs hosted a workshop with the participation of a delegation from the Republic of India, headed by Arterat Aguar Serenivas, Director General of Systems and Data Management at the Central Council for indirect taxes and customs (CBIC) of the Indian Ministry of Finance, as well as representatives of the Indian embassy in Abu Dhabi.

The workshop aimed to discuss ways to enhance cooperation to facilitate inter -trade movement, develop supply chains, and discuss mechanisms for supporting the digital commercial corridor between the two countries.

His Excellency Rashid Lahej Al -Mansouri, Director General of Abu Dhabi Customs, met his Indian delegation and discussed aspects of joint customs cooperation, and ways to accelerate digital transformation in the customs sector, which contributes to raising the efficiency of procedures and enhancing the flow of merchandise movement across the border.

The workshop reviewed the Abu Dhabi Digital Customs system and its advanced technical capabilities in managing customs operations, through a smart and advanced infrastructure that allows the provision of customs services around the clock, and integrates with the hidden customs system, smart systems and blockchain technologies, in addition to government services facades such as the platform “Tamm” and the platform “Ask”.

It discussed a number of technical axes related to linking the systems between the two sides and mechanisms for exchanging data and customs procedures, within the framework of the MAITRI initiative, which is an intermediary platform designed to link with the various systems in the countries concerned, with the aim of facilitating international trade operations for government agencies, customs bodies, importers, exporters, and providers of shipping and logistical services.

The initiative aims to create a digital commercial corridor to exchange customs data digitally and safely, in a way that contributes to speeding up customs clearance procedures, enhancing transparency and compliance, improving bilateral trade smoothness, as well as reducing costs and reducing the time associated with commercial operations between the two sides.

The workshop comes within the framework of the efforts of Abu Dhabi Customs to enhance partnership with international customs institutions, and to develop digital solutions in support of global trade, to keep pace with the economic development goals of the emirate and the UAE.
