Sharjah Fish Resources and Fishermen’s Associations enhance their joint cooperation

Sharjah, July 11 / WAM / The Sharjah Fish Resources Authority held yesterday its second coordination meeting with cooperative societies for fish fishermen in the Emirate of Sharjah in the Jubail market in the city of Sharjah in the presence of His Excellency Ali Ahmed Abu Ghazia, President of the Authority, Salem Muhammad Al -Mahrazi, Director of the Authority, as well as the heads and deputies of the five associations boards and a number of members in the framework of its continuous efforts to develop the fishing sector and enhance the partnership with the cooperative societies .
This meeting comes in light of the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, with the aim of enhancing institutional communication, supporting fishermen and achieving sustainability in the fish wealth sector.
The meeting discussed the most prominent challenges facing associations and see the proposals submitted by their superiors, in addition to reviewing the current support mechanisms provided by the authority and ways to develop them in a way that meets the needs of fishermen and enhances their operational efficiency.
The meeting also reviewed the mechanism of work in the Jubail market, the procedures followed in the purchase and sale of fish, the standards of price identification, the mechanisms for trading marine products, the level of services provided, in addition to displaying accurate statistics on the quantities of purchase from local fishermen and the extent of cooperation between them and the market.
