Abu Dhabi, July 11 / WAM / The Emiratis celebrate, at this time of each year, the wet season and the good and blessing it brings from the fruits of the “blessed tree”, and for the first time, this season coincides with the “Year of Society”, so that joy and happiness prevail throughout the country.

This season, which is awaited by everyone who lives on the good land of the Emirates, is identified with the spirit of the “General Society” initiative, because of the values of communication, cohesion, synergy, generous hospitality and giving, as these values are evident in the exchange of wet dishes between relatives and friends, and presenting them as gifts to guests and visitors to the state.

The “Year of Society” is witnessing a season that embodies the national identity and local culture, through the permanent presence of wet, along with a cup of coffee, in a scene of hospitality and continuous giving, extending for four months.

The “Year of Society” initiative highlights the established position of the wet in the heritage of the Emirates, as one of the ancient cultural values that formed an inherent part of the Emirati identity, it was not just food, but a pillar of hospitality and social communication, a present element in the councils, and a daily scene in people’s lives.

In this context, the citizen Issa bin Obaid Al -Kaabi, a heritage researcher, said that the wet season represents a special place in the heart of every Emirati, as it is a story of love rooted for centuries, but this year the palm tree this year has become good in conjunction with the “year of society”, adding a new moral dimension for this season.

He added that in the “Year of Society”, evoking the national memory is a duty imposed by the fulfillment of the initiative and history, and to emphasize that wet and dates were not merely a food for the founders, but two permanent companions of the cup of coffee, and two authentic elements in the councils that witnessed the major meetings and meetings of the establishment of the State Union.

He continued that the wet and dates were not seen, at any time, as just food or drink, but rather two seals and two lines to communicate, build familiarity, and enhance social ties, as it contributed to the formation of a wide network of family and personal relationships, and the establishment of the values of appreciation, respect and generosity in receiving guests, which reflects the depth of their presence in the fabric of cultural and social life in the Emirates since the beginning.

Al -Kaabi added that the founders, may God have mercy on them, were not aware that their habits in receiving guests with wet, dates and coffee would turn into firm traditions of national identity, and we continue to follow their approach to this day.
