ISESCO Regional Office: Inclusion "The abyss" On the World Heritage List a new achievement for Sharjah

Sharjah, July 11 / WAM / His Excellency Salem Omar Salem, Director of the Regional Office of the Islamic World Organization for Education, Science and Culture “ISESCO” in Sharjah praised the inclusion of the Al -Fayyah site in the Emirate of Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates within the UNESCO World Heritage List, describing this achievement as a deserved historical entitlement that reflects the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council member and Ruler of Sharjah and his deep faith in the value of heritage Humanity and its role in building the present and foreseeing the future.
He stressed that this international achievement culminates in the scientific and tireless work that the Emirate of Sharjah has led under the direct supervision of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah and led by Sheikha Badour Bint Sultan Al Qasimi, the ambassador of the international nomination file for the Al -Fayya site, which harnessed its efforts and cultural and cognitive experiences to ensure the world’s recognition of the value of this unique human site, which is one of the oldest archaeological evidence of the development of man and early immigration paths for humanity more than 200 thousand years ago.
He said that the inclusion of the Al -Fayya site on the World Heritage List is a global recognition of Sharjah’s cultural and cognitive standing and its pioneering experience in protecting material and physical heritage, as it is a testimony of pride for the UAE leadership and people and the consolidation of Sharjah’s leadership in its regional and international surroundings as a center of culture, science and knowledge.
And he stressed that “ISESCO” will remain an active partner in supporting the efforts of the United Arab Emirates in general and the Emirate of Sharjah in particular towards the protection of heritage and enhancing its presence in international forums, which contributes to strengthening the role of the UAE as a leading country in the protection of World Heritage.
Salem Omar added that the purpose of the inclusion of sites such as “Al -Fayy” is not limited to legal protection or scientific documentation, but rather extends to enhance the awareness of generations of the importance of heritage in forming identity and the importance of investing in archaeological sites as a bridge of cultural and civilizational communication, and this is what Sharjah succeeded with distinction within the context of the cultural leadership of the UAE.
