She passed away today, April 21, 2026, one of the most important figures in Gulf art, Artist Hayat Al-Fahd, leaving behind an exceptional artistic career that shaped the conscience of Kuwaiti and Gulf drama over more than six decades.

Hayat Al-Fahd was an integrated artistic project that strengthened the status of women in Gulf drama with the boldness of performance, the depth of choice, and the strength of presence.

Hayat Al-Fahd was born in April 1948 in the Sharq region of the Kuwaiti capital, and grew up in a popular environment that refined her human sense and ability to touch people’s concerns, which was later reflected in her artistic choices.

A story of rise

Although she did not complete her primary education, Hayat Al-Fahad She insisted on learning, so she became proficient in reading and writing in both Arabic and English. She began her professional life as a nurse in a hospital, then worked as a broadcaster on Kuwait Radio between 1965 and 1968, before she was discovered by the artist Abu Jassoum. She made her artistic debut in the series “The Bou Jassoum Family.”

Her first theatrical appearance was in the play “The Victim” in 1963, after which she began a long artistic journey during which she contributed to building the dramatic identity of Kuwait and the Gulf.

Hayat Al-Fahd presented dozens of works that became part of the Arab viewer’s memory, the most prominent of which are:
"My aunt is a cloth", "Ruqaya and Sabika", "To my father and mother, greetings":Dardour", "The wound of time", "The price of my life", "When flowers sing"and"Umm Haroun", "Peace be upon the world" Where she moved smoothly between comedy, tragedy, and social and historical drama.

Hayat Al-Fahd was also known as a prominent screenwriter, who presented works that addressed women’s issues and Gulf society with boldness and honesty, such as "The midwife" and"The door"
She also published a poetry collection entitled "reproach" In the late seventies, confirming her multiple talents and high creative sense.

Awards and honors

Hayat Al-Fahd won dozens of awards, including the State Appreciation Award in Kuwait (2008), the Best Actress Award from the Cairo Radio and Television Festival, honors from the League of Arab States, in addition to the Honorary Entertainment Makers Award (Joy Awards) in 2023, and other Arab honors that embodied her status as an Arab artistic icon.
