المملكة: 180 days deadline .. Determine the technical and organizational requirements for car umbrellas

The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing has identified technical and organizational requirements for car umbrellas within the property limit, as an extension of its efforts in developing the urban environment, raising the quality of urban design, and ensuring the safe and regulatory use of spaces within the domains of residential and commercial buildings.
The requirements include regulatory standards for the creation of car umbrellas within private property, which include design, location and materials used, in a way that achieves the disciplined use of facilities, and enhances the integration of the urban scene, and limits irregular infringements and manifestations, while adhering to the Saudi construction code and comprehensive arrival standards, including taking into account the pedestrian paths and the entrances of people with disabilities.

The Ministry is organizing procedures for issuing the permit via the “Baladi” platform, through steps that begin to submit a building permit or a documented lease contract through the “rental platform”, through the preparation of plans by an accredited engineering office, and ending with the review of the competent authorities and issuing the permit electronically, in a way that contributes to simplifying the procedures and ensuring technical compliance.

General controls

The requirements included a number of general controls, the most prominent of which are: setting an introductory card for the umbrella with a code that includes declaring data, maintaining the cleanliness of the site and the safety of the sidewalks, unifying the design of umbrellas in one building, and commitment to periodic maintenance, in addition to the permit to bear the full regular responsibility towards the umbrella and the consequent construction of obligations, and adhere to the requirements of comprehensive access approved by the National Center for the Building Code.
The Ministry provided a corrective deadline for a period of (180) days for the existing umbrellas within the limits of ownership, starting from the date of publishing the technical guide through official platforms, to fulfill the approved requirements and regulations and update their conditions in line with the current standards.
Through these requirements, the Ministry of Municipalities and Housing aims to enhance the quality of the urban organization, achieve a balance between safety and constructive job requirements, and provide a more organized and secure urban environment, in support of the Kingdom’s 2030 vision targets.
