100 percent compliance of food establishments in Ajman with health and safety standards

Ajman, January 29 / WAM / The Municipality and Planning Department – Ajman carried out a wide and comprehensive inspection campaign on food establishments in the emirate in preparation for celebrating the night of the middle of Sha`ban, “Haqq Al-Laila”.
The department explained that the campaign included assessing the extent of food establishments’ compliance with approved health requirements, and ensuring that the products offered conform to standard specifications, in addition to focusing on the safety of storage operations, the level of general hygiene, and methods of handling food, to ensure that it is not exposed to contamination or spoilage.
The results of the tests confirmed that 100% conformity was achieved for the samples collected during the campaign, which reflects the commitment of food establishments and traded products to health and food safety standards, and enhances consumer confidence in local markets.
Dr. Engineer Khaled Moeen Al Hosani, Executive Director of the Public Health and Environment Sector at the Department, confirmed that this campaign comes within an integrated control plan implemented by the Department, to ensure food safety and protect the health of community members, explaining that the full commitment reflects the awareness and commitment of food establishments to applying the best health practices, and at the same time embodies the efforts of the Department and the regulatory authorities in the country in strengthening the food safety system.
Al Hosani explained that the Public Health Department in the department carried out comprehensive field surveys of markets and commercial complexes across the emirate, where food samples were taken from the sweets, juices and promotional offers most consumed during this occasion, to ensure their conformity with the specifications approved by the competent authorities.
He explained that the samples were examined in the central laboratory for food laboratories in the department using the latest laboratory techniques, and included chemical and microbiological analyses, component analysis, and ensuring that the products are free of any harmful substances or contaminants that may pose a threat to the health of consumers.
