Dubai Police and Dubai Naval Authority are carrying out an inspection campaign on water bicycles

Dubai Police Police Station in Dubai Marine Authority carried out an intense inspection campaign on water bicycles, which resulted in the liberation of 431 naval violations, in addition to the seizure of 41 violating water bikes.

“The joint cooperation between all sides reflects our strategic vision to make Dubai a pioneering model in marine safety, and confirms our commitment to providing a safe and sustainable environment for all sea users, which contributes to supporting economic development and preserving the reputation of the emirate as a global marine center.”

Sheikh Dr. Saeed bin Ahmed bin Khalifa Al Maktoum added: “The safety of the users of maritime means is a top priority, and we are working on developing the organizational and technical structure to ensure compliance with the regulations and enhance the culture of responsibility among the sea visitors. Cooperation between the supervisory and awareness authorities is the basis for achieving a safer and sustainable marine environment in Dubai.”

For his part, the director of the Ports Police Station, Brigadier Dr. Hassan Suhail, said that the aim of the campaign is to enhance marine safety and reduce injuries resulting from accidents due to reckless leadership, and to control violators to reduce negative phenomena, as well as raising the level of security and safety and enhancing the police confidence in the marine areas.

Brigadier Suhail explained that the violations that were liberated varied between the expiration of licenses for the use of water bicycles, entering prohibited areas such as swimming areas and hotel beaches, and not adhering to the times specified for use, not wearing a survival jacket, driving bicycles by people without the legal age, and loading the marine means above its capacity, along with other violations.

Brigadier Suhail stressed that the violations were distributed over the various beach areas in the Emirate of Dubai, noting that the fine of the water bike driving with an expired license is 1000 dirhams, the failure to wear a life jacket or helmet reaches 1000 dirhams, disturbing others and harassing them up to 2000 dirhams, and not adhering to the areas specified for marine sports 1000 dirhams, in addition to other violations.

Brigadier Hassan Suhail pointed to the high readiness of the maritime security patrols in securing maritime navigation and monitoring violators, and the readiness of the marine rescue patrols to deal with emergency incidents around the clock, in line with the directives of the Dubai Police General Command, stressing the keenness of Dubai Police to protect community members and ensure their safety.

Dubai Police and the Dubai Marine Authority called on water bike users to adhere to the laws, ensure the availability of safety equipment such as survival jackets, periodic maintenance, avoid approaching private and tourist ships, adhere to the specified speeds that do not exceed 5 to 7 naval miles, and not to load the bike over their capacity in order to preserve their lives and safety.

The two sides also demanded that the bicycle owners be sure of the status of the bike regularly, to monitor the weather before going out to the sea, and you recommended using the “sailing safe” service available through the smart application of Dubai Police to ensure the speed of response to emergency cases, or call the number 999 in emergency situations.
