المملكة: It connects 3 countries .. Neum port succeeds in implementing an operating experience for a new commercial corridor
The experiment carried out by the port in cooperation with the “logistical partnership council with the private sector” contributed to reducing the time of transportation of shipments by more than 50% compared to traditional paths.
Within the experimental project, the first shipments started from the Egyptian capital, Cairo, passing through the port of Safaga, and from it across the Red Sea to the port of NEOM, before continuing its journey by land to its final destination in the Iraqi city of Erbil, cutting a distance exceeding 900 km.
High levels of operational efficiency
The initiative embodies a model of effective integration between a number of governmental and organizational bodies, including the General Authority for Transport, the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority, as well as private sector partners, such as ship owners, main exporters and importers, export councils, and logistical services companies.
This joint cooperation has achieved high levels of operational efficiency in various stages of transportation and handling, and it made it possible to provide integrated and effective logistical solutions that significantly raise the level of competitiveness.
The success of the experimental project was evident in reducing the transit time by more than 50% on the ways coming from Egypt compared to traditional paths.
The ability to reduce costs
This achievement opens broad prospects for the possibility of reducing costs and reducing transit times significantly, which enhances the chances of developing future regional and global commercial corridors.
This experimental project is a pivotal step in implementing a long -term vision to strengthen the role of the NEOM port as a major logistical and sea center in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
To achieve this goal, the Neum port benefit from its distinguished strategic geographical location on the Red Sea, near the Arar borders, which is the main entry point to Iraq.

This unique site allows the port to be a vital regional gate linking the most important global trade routes, which enhances its role in the vital internal logistical corridor network.
A global logistical system
Through this integration, the NEOM port facilitates smooth commercial flows between Asia, Africa, Europe and the Middle East, which opens new horizons for economic growth and trade exchange across the border.
This initiative comes an important step towards achieving the Kingdom’s 2030 vision targets to build a global logistical system, based on integration between ports, land ports and customs centers.
It also provides an expandable model that contributes to the development of logistical connection within the Kingdom, and enhances its position as a global logistical center in regional and international trade.
