A gunman kills 4 people and commit suicide in a skyscraper in Manhattan

At least five people, one of whom was a policeman, was killed in a shooting in New York on Monday when a gunman opened fire in the center of Manhattan, according to American media.

“Four people, one of whom is a New York police officer, was killed” in the incident, noting that the shooter apparently committed suicide by shooting himself, while the New York Post reported that the gunmen killed five people.

New York Police Commissioner Jessica Tich said that the gunman who was staying in Las Vegas and driving his car to New York in the past few days shot his chest at the end of the attack.

She added that he believed that the gunman acted alone, and the investigators have not yet determined the potential motivation for the shooting.

The suspect, Shin Tamura, was identified from Nevada, according to two people familiar with the investigation of the Associated Press.

The two sources also added that the authorities found an identity card in his possession, including a permit to carry a weapon issued by Las Vegas.

The skyscrapers of 345 Park Avenue include the offices of a number of financial institutions, including Blackstone and CBMG and the US Football League headquarters.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation stated that agents from his field office in New York are also present to provide support at the scene.
