"Two heat waves" In Britain, they claimed the lives of about 2,887 people
The two record heat waves that hit BritainIn May and June, about 2,877 people died, according to what was announced by the British Health Security Authority.
The government authority said that "The estimated number of 2,887 deaths associated with the two heat waves during the months of May and June shows the significant impact of these two waves on public health, especially since the deaths were recorded early in Summer season"

She added that this number is equivalent to nearly double the total heat-related deaths recorded during the entire summer of 2025.
British Health Minister Yvette Cooper said in a statement. "For many years, we have become accustomed to the pressures experienced by the national health services system during Winter, but we are currently observing that the impact of summer heat waves has become more dangerous to the health of thousands of people"
She confirmed that high temperatures during the summer have become a growing health challenge in addition to the traditional pressures faced by the health system in the winter.
