El Salvador is amending her constitution .. She acknowledges her president, the “most amazing dictator” nomination “for life”

The Salvadurian Parliament, in which the supporters of President Naguib Abu Kila, have a cruel amendment to a constitutional amendment that eliminates the maximum number of permitted presidential periods and allows this ally to US President Donald Trump to run to the end and extend the presidential period to 6 years.

With a majority of 57 deputies against 3, the parliament approved yesterday this amendment, which was approved under an urgent procedure, which also provides for the cancellation of the second session of the presidential elections and the extension of the term of the president from 5 years now to 6 years.

Parliament consists of 60 deputies who are 57 deputies loyal to Abu Kila, and they all voted in favor of the amendment, and only 3 opposition deputies voted against the text.

Abu Kila’s state ends in 2029, but the amendment that was approved yesterday provides for its negligence to 2027 and then allowing him to run again “without any reservations.”

The constitutional amendment comes yesterday after a wave of repression that affected opponents and human rights defenders and forced dozens of journalists and activists to flee the country.

Representative Anna Vigron, of the “New Ideas” party, had proposed changes to 5 articles of the constitution. The proposal also included the cancellation of the second round of the elections in which the winners of the highest vote from the first round faces.

Anna considered that they changed the approval of her proposal as a “historic” step, because the matter, as she put it, is “very simple” and addressed, “O Silvadorians, you are the only ones who decide for how long will you support your boss.”

“Today, democracy died in El Salvador, they took off their conviction,” said opposition deputy, opposition deputy, Marcela Villaro, during the discussion session.

In June 2024, Abu Kila won a second term after receiving 85% of the votes in elections that he could not run until after he obtained a special permission from the Supreme Court, which was dominated by judges chosen by his party in 2021 to allow his re -election for a second term of 5 years.
