Increted advice from Prince Philippe Luft Middleton: Don’t look at the camera

New expatriates to the royal family are rarely prepared for the general pressure and follow -up that accompany royal titles. But Kate Middleton, before she became a princess of Wales, received one of the deepest tips from someone who lived closely: Prince Philip.

Prince Philip, the husband of Queen Elizabeth II for more than 73 years, was not limited to the representation of the British crown, but also played a guiding role within the family, directing those who preceded her like Princess Diana, and those who followed her like Kate.

In his autobiography, “Philip: the last picture”, the author Giles Brandrith revealed a remarkable advice directed by the late Duke of Kate: “Never look at the camera.”

He made it clear that the queen was always focused on the person who was talking to him, not on the lenses of the photographers. He said: “If you believe that attention is directed to you personally, you will be in trouble. Attention is not with you as an individual, but in your role, with what you do and support it. You are not a star. You represent the royal family. This is everything.”

Despite Philip’s concern about the smaller generation in the royal family, he felt comfortable with the “rationality” of Kate.

The writer, who accompanied Princess Kate in a number of rounds, said that he himself saw how Philip’s advice was applied. He added: “Kate never looks at the camera, and when she is asked, she talks about the issue that she works on, not about herself.”

That simple advice formed a compass for Kate in her royal career, and contributed to drawing her image as a committed and responsible member within the most famous family in the world.
