After a campaign of criticism and calls for her deportation from the United States, Nicki Minaj breaks her silence and responds

In a development that caused widespread controversy, American rapper Nicki Minaj broke her silence on social media, after a wave of sharp criticism that reached the point of demanding her deportation from the United States, against the backdrop of recent political positions and her public support for the “Make America Great Again” movement.

Minaj returned to the forefront on the “X” platform, where she launched a scathing attack on the American journalist Don Lemon, objecting to the content of one of his interviews, which dealt with the incident of disrupting a church mass by activists opposed to the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), an incident into which the Department of Justice opened an investigation into it for possible violation of federal laws.

Over the past weeks, Minaj has been subjected to a campaign of widespread criticism, especially from some of her fans, after she appeared at public events alongside Erica Kirk, the widow of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, in addition to her praise of President Donald Trump, describing him as a “role model,” and her criticism of California Governor Gavin Newsom’s policies regarding transgender children.

The controversy became more intense due to the contradiction of these positions with her previous positions, as Minaj was known for years as one of the most prominent opponents of Trump, and she criticized his policies since 2010. She also attacked him in 2016 because of his positions on mass deportation, which she reflected in one of her songs during that period.

Recently, Minaj re-published a post by Trump about what he described as “the persecution of Christians in Nigeria,” and she also expressed her appreciation for him during her participation in the America Fest festival, which exacerbated the angry reactions towards her.

As the controversy escalated, more than 120,000 people signed a petition demanding the deportation of Nicki Minaj from the United States, given that she was born in Trinidad and Tobago, which prompted her to deactivate her Instagram account and temporarily move away from the social media platforms, before she returned again and sparked a new wave of controversy with her recent statements.
