The start of the Jordanian Camel Square season on Sheikh Zayed Square

Wadi Rum – Jordan on August 13 / WAM / Sheikh Zayed Square for Camel Racing in the Disa region “Wadi Rum” in the sisterly Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan witnessed the start of the Jordanian Camel Camel season activities, through the first preliminary race.

The event will be held in coordination with the Jordanian Camel Federation, and with the support of the Emirates Camel Racing Federation.

The Sheikh Zayed track, which was established in 2008-2009, is one of the most prominent fields of camel racing in the region, where it annually hosts a series of preliminary races, up to the closing race, in the context of preserving this ancient sport and enhancing its presence in Jordan and the region.

This year’s version is witnessing 6 races throughout the season, with 5 preliminary races, in addition to a closing race in November 2025, with the participation of the various age groups from the category of individuals to the year category, through 22 runs per category.

Valuable cash prizes were allocated to the winners from the first to the tenth in each run, in support of the sport of camel race and an encouragement for its owners, and to enhance the inheritance and authentic Arab customs, while ensuring the transfer of this heritage sport to future generations.

Camel owners in Jordan were also provided with an authentic Zamoul from the presidential camel with the aim of preserving the distinctive strains and developing camel production, in an initiative that reflects the UAE’s keenness to upgrade the level of competition and support the owners.

The races witnessed the introduction of the automatic passenger into this sport, in a step that contributes to its development and ensuring its continuity, in a way that keeps pace with the requirements of the times and maintains its sustainability.

The festival embodies the depth of brotherly relations between the UAE and Jordan, and reflects the great interest that the state attaches to the authentic Arab heritage, through technical and logistical support, and the provision of extensive participation opportunities for camel owners and contestants from Jordan and the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council.

It also enhances the vision of good leadership in the UAE, its constant interest in supporting this sport, enhancing its position regionally and internationally, and ensuring its continuation as a symbol of originality and ancient Arab heritage.
