The growth of the economy of the eurozone during the second quarter

Brussels on August 14/ WAM/ The eurozone economy recorded a quarterly growth of 0.1% from April until the end of last June, compared to a growth of 0.2% in the European Union economy as a whole, according to new official data, which reflects a slowdown compared to the first quarter in which the Union achieved a growth of 0.5% and the euro area 0.6%.

On an annual basis, the growth of the euro area in the second quarter was 1.4% compared to 1.5% for the European Union.

Spain led performance at the level of states individually, whose economy recorded 0.7%, while unemployment rates increased by 0.1% in both the euro and the European Union compared to the previous quarter, after witnessing an increase in employment by 0.2% in the eurozone and stability in the union during the first quarter.

Some major investment banks, including “Goldman Sachs”, modified their forecasts and suggested that the current facilitation cycle of the European Centrals, with interest rates remaining at the level of 2% in the foreseeable future, despite the continuing commercial risks that may affect growth and inflation.
