Abu Dhabi, August 15/ WAM/ The Federal Nuclear Supervision Authority announced today the launch of the Nuclear and Radiological Excellence Award, to honor individuals and institutions who contributed to developing and strengthening the sector in the UAE, with the aim of creating an environment that stimulates excellence and innovation in the nuclear and radiological sector in the country.
This first national initiative of its kind is overwhelmed by the state; Highlighting the contributions and achievements made in the nuclear and radiological sector, especially the contributions to safety and leadership and bringing about constructive changes in society, which is in line with the authority’s responsibility in protecting society and the environment.
The award also supports the goals of the “UAE 2031” vision, which supports the economy based on innovation, the development of human cadres in the vital sectors, and the guarantee of environmental sustainability.
Institutions and workers in the nuclear, medical, industrial and academic sectors can apply for the award, which includes five main categories: the best scientific research, the best professional, the leader of the future, innovation, and the best project or initiative.
The award seeks to honor the contributions of these individuals and institutions in these groups and their role in sustaining this vital sector.
On this occasion, Christter Victorine, Director General of the Federal Nuclear Supervision Authority, said that the Nuclear and Radiological Excellence Award embodies the authority’s commitment to safety, innovation and leadership, as more than 20,000 specialists work in this vital sector, and inspire the next generation to maintain the highest standards in protecting society and the environment alike.
For its part, Nadia Sultan, Director of the Institutional Development Department at the Authority, said in statements to the Emirates News Agency “WAM”, that the five groups were distributed through two main groups, which are “individual” concerned with female and male individuals, and the “institutional” group of entities and projects.
Details of the groups distributed through the individual group, which included the “Best Research” category; The specialized in scientific research published during the last five years that contribute to the development of nuclear technology and the promotion of safety and security, and the “distinguished professional” category that is granted to workers in sensitive sites such as reactors, electricity engineers, radiologists, and other positive influences on the work environment and its safety, and the group also includes the “future leader” category that honors young cadres that show leadership capabilities and distinguished achievements at the beginning of its professional career.
Sultan referred to the institutional group that includes two categories, the “Innovation Award” that focuses on honoring technical or operational innovations that enhance security and safety levels and include applications such as artificial intelligence and three -dimensional printing, robots and augmented reality and others, in addition to the category of “project prize or the distinguished initiative” concerned with projects that were successfully launched and had a clear impact on nuclear and radiological safety in various locations Like hospitals, factories, research institutions, and transportation.
She affirmed their endeavor to be a permanent annual initiative, through which the authority aspires to gradually expand its scope to include regional and international participation and linking it to vocational development and training programs, with expectations that the award will be in partnership with international organizations.
The authority calls on all the relevant authorities within the nuclear and radiological sector system in the UAE to provide their nominations and participate in this pioneering initiative.
By honoring the prominent achievements, the award contributes to raising the standards of the sector and enhancing the leadership of the UAE globally in developing the nuclear and radiological sector.
The nominations are accepted until November 29, 2025 through the official award portal, and the evaluation is based on accurate criteria that include the extent of innovation, impact, suitable for the sector, and consistency with safety and quality standards, and an integrated mechanism has also been adopted to ensure neutral professional evaluation.
