The UAE celebrates “World Humanitarian Day”

The UAE will celebrate tomorrow, Tuesday, the “International Day of Humanitarian Action”, stressing its intention to continue its pivotal role in meeting the calls of humanitarian distress around the world, as the number of beneficiaries of the foreign aid that it provided until mid -2024 reached more than one billion people, and at a value exceeding 368 billion dirhams.

The UAE represents the cornerstone of the global system of humanitarian action, given the size of the humanitarian aid it provides annually to the afflicted and affected in the eastern and west of the world, regardless of any religious, ethnic or political considerations, in addition to its accumulated experiences and great potentials that help relief and humanitarian tasks around the world with a standard, high and effective time that translates quickly on the ground.

The occasion this year is resolved, while the UAE is leading international efforts to help and relieve the victims of wars and conflicts, especially the Palestinian brothers in the Gaza Strip, as Emirati aid constituted 44% of the total international aid to the sector according to international reports.

The UAE succeeded through the “Al -Faris 3” operation in delivering all forms of humanitarian and relief support to the Gaza Strip by land, sea and air, and the implementation of a group of service projects in the field of providing drinking water and repairing the affected infrastructure, as well as the great support it provides to the health sector there.

To this day, the UAE carried out 73 air landing operations for various aid in the sector within the process of “Birds of Goodness”, which is affiliated with the “Al -Shahham 3” operation.

The UAE affirmed its firm commitment to providing various forms of humanitarian and relief support to the brotherly Sudanese people, as it pledged to provide 200 million US dollars during the high -level humanitarian conference for the people of Sudan held in Addis Ababa on February 14, to reach the total of what the UAE provided during the past ten years 3.5 billion dollars the value of humanitarian aid to the Sudanese people.

During the current year, the UAE has strengthened its initiatives aimed at alleviating the suffering faced by the friendly Ukrainian people as a result of the continuous crisis there, as the Emirates International Aid Agency signed a cooperation agreement with the Olina Zelinska Foundation, aimed at providing additional centers for incubating families and orphanage by providing a financial contribution of $ 4.5 million.

The total number of beneficiaries of humanitarian and relief aid provided by the UAE to the friendly Ukrainian people until last February was more than 1.2 million people, including one million women and children.

The mediation efforts carried out by the UAE between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Ukraine resulted in the completion of 16 prisoners ’exchange between the two sides, which numbered 4349 prisoners.

In terms of relief to natural disaster victims, during January 2025, the UAE provided assistance to the friendly Republic of Chad, which included 30 thousand food baskets and more than 20 thousand covers, in order to alleviate the repercussions of the floods witnessed in several regions in the country, and the UAE also provided 700 tons of urgent food supplies to those affected by the floods that swept several regions in Somalia.

At the end of last March, the UAE sent urgent humanitarian aid to the Republic of Myanmar to support it in the face of the repercussions of the earthquake that it was exposed to, and the aid included more than 200 tons of food, shelters, and medical assistance, and later sent more than 167 metric tons of basic relief materials, including plastic covers, and necessary living equipment, to provide support for approximately 80 A thousand people affected by the earthquake.

On August 11, a number of specialized teams from the UAE arrived in the Albanian capital, Tirana, to participate in the urgent response operations to put out the fires, which are in several areas there, as the UAE participates with the necessary fires, equipment and materials.

This year, the UAE witnessed the launch of a number of humanitarian initiatives with a global impact, such as the “Stopping of the Father”, who will invest part of its proceeds in providing health care and treatment for the poor and the needy and unable and support the health system in the less fortunate societies through the development of hospitals, and secure the necessary medicines and treatments.

The Emirates Agency for International Aid and the Republic of the Republic of Chad signed the building agreement to build Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak and the dialysis center in Angina, the capital of the Republic of Chad, with the aim of providing the latest health services and treatment necessary for dialysis patients.
