Iran has “no choice” but to continue the talks

US President Donald Trump said on Tuesday that he expects to reach a “wonderful agreement” in the talks between American and Iranian representatives in Islamabad.

“I think they have no choice,” Trump said during an interview with the American network CNBC, referring to the second round of negotiations expected to be held in Pakistan. He said: “We eliminated their navy and air forces, and we eliminated their leaders.”

However, Tehran has not confirmed that the talks will actually be held.

Asked whether he would extend the ceasefire to allow time for peace talks, Trump said: “Well, I don’t want to do that.”

The president said that he would not lift the blockade on Iranian ports until a final agreement is reached.

He pointed out that the ceasefire allowed the US army to restock ammunition and that they are now ready to attack again. He also admitted that Iran has also managed to restore its stock to some extent.
