Abu Dhabi, August 19 / WAM / The Ministry of Education, in cooperation with the media office of the UAE government, organized a media briefing, with the participation of His Excellency Sarah Al -Amiri, Minister of Education, to review the most prominent preparations carried out by the ministry in preparation for the new academic year 2025 – 2026, where the most prominent features of development plans that will be witnessed by the government education system were reviewed, in order to accompany the relevant national priorities.
His Excellency Eng. Muhammad Al -Qasim, Undersecretary of the Ministry, His Excellency Suleiman Al -Kaabi, Assistant Undersecretary for the Professional Development Sector, and Amna Al Saleh, Acting Undersecretary for Curricula and Evaluation Sector, along with representatives of local media.
His Excellency Sarah Al -Amiri confirmed that the ministry has worked, since last January, to develop proactive plans to ensure the readiness of government schools with the start of the academic year 2025-2026, which included all aspects related to the school environment, from buildings to advanced educational plans.
She explained that the next academic year will witness many qualitative updates that will contribute to promoting national education competitiveness.
Her Excellency added that the ministry made fundamental changes to the evaluation policy to ensure the efficiency of educational outcomes. These changes included the abolition of central tests for the end of the second semester of all academic levels, their replacement with school final evaluation, with the aim of optimal use of schooling days, diversification and improvement of students ’performance measurement, improving student quality of life, developing learning methods and teaching methods used and under that, The weights weights were modified to match the evaluation policy updates, to become the central tests in the first and third semester only.
Her Excellency pointed to the adoption of the application of the second stage of the project’s learning and evaluation system, to include all students of the second episode in public and private schools applied to the Ministry’s curriculum, after the success of the first stage in which 127,500 students from 350 government and private schools participated.
Her Excellency also indicated that the developments of the new academic year also include the development of the national testing system, by adopting the standard efficiency test to measure the skills of Arabic, English and mathematics for students from the fourth to eleventh in government schools, provided that the first stage includes 26,000 students.
His Excellency Sarah Al -Amiri confirmed that the ministry has paid special attention to enhancing the national identity by focusing on Arabic and Islamic education, as the basis for building the student’s personality.
The plan included increasing the time of teaching articles in the kindergarten stage, and allocating daily hours for students of the first episode to consolidate reading and writing skills in the Arabic language, by redistributing the classes inside the school day, ensuring that priority is given to enhance the national identity, without increasing the number of school hours.
The basic evaluation of the Arabic language skills in the first grade will also be applied in 100 governmental and private schools, to provide a basic line for the level of students, allowing designing support programs that contribute to developing their linguistic capabilities and gradually raising their efficiency, reflecting the ministry’s serious commitment to put the national identity at the core of the educational experience.
On the level of operational readiness, its Excellency announced the opening of 9 new schools in a number of the emirates of the country, the reception of more than 25,000 new students, and to attract more than 800 new educational staff, in addition to the maintenance and equipment of more than 460 schools with all the supplies. The ministry also provided more than 5,500 school buses to transport students, in addition to printing more than 10 million copies of textbooks, distributing approximately 47 thousand devices A laptop computer.
For his part, His Excellency Eng. Muhammad Al -Qasim, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education, stressed that the ministry has paid special attention to enhancing the quality of students ’life through the launch of the physical education, sports and health program in government schools this year, which includes enhancing a sustainable healthy lifestyle by creating a supportive environment that enhances healthy skills in the school environment, as well as organizing specialized sports championships, and restructuring the classes of physical education through the distribution of times of physical education classes to be compatible with the targets The program, as well as promoting healthy nutrition in government schools by activating the first stage of providing healthy meals for students.
His Excellency explained that, and to complete the Ministry’s efforts during the previous years in embodying the highest values of partnership with parents and educational cadres, because of this importance in unifying plans aimed at developing the educational system, the ministry has developed this year a participatory educational vision that believes in the importance of enhancing the involvement of educational cadres and parents in the educational decision -making, as they are influential and active in drawing the features of the future of the education system National.
And to achieve this vision; His Excellency explained that this year will witness the reshaping of education councils, as the School Leadership Council will include 14 members and 14 members of the Teachers Council, while the Council of Young Teachers will include 7 members, with the aim of strengthening the role of cadres in the educational decision, as well as activating the councils of the wealth of 520 And their contribution to many decisions and projects implemented by the ministry.
His Excellency also announced that the ministry will receive students through an educational campaign under the slogan “from skill to the forefront”, with the participation of educational cadres, parents and society, with the aim of highlighting the importance of skills in building the future of students and motivating them to explore their capabilities and convert them into achievements.
The campaign is based on three main axes: exploration to convert schools into incubating and inspiring environments to discover and care for student talents, and the second pillar of development by refining students’ skills through strategic partnerships that provide them with advanced training opportunities, while the third pillar of excellence, by supporting and encouraging students to participate effectively in local and international competitions.
The campaign includes two accompanying programs that start during the first month of return, which are “my family of inspiration” with the participation of parents, and the “inspiring in the field” program. The two programs aim to inspire students and encourage them in their continuous educational career.
The ministry confirmed that the next academic year will witness the application of the artificial intelligence approach that it has created to be part of the educational experience.
This application is the first of its kind at the national level, allowing a wide educational experience that provides lessons benefiting for the local and international community on how to integrate artificial intelligence into education.
The curriculum will teach about 1,000 teachers at various academic levels, ensuring a systematic implementation that covers all grades.
The Ministry explained that the aim of this approach is to prepare students to deal with artificial intelligence as an important tool in their daily and future lives, with a focus on responsible and effective use in a way that supports their skills and their ability to adapt to the requirements of the future.
The Ministry stressed that this experience will provide valuable practical lessons on the best ways to use artificial intelligence in education, which makes it an opportunity to develop educational policies locally and contribute to enriching the global debate on the future of education.
With regard to the readiness of educational cadres, the ministry clarified that it continues to develop the capabilities of its educational cadres through advanced training programs, where more than 23 thousand staff participated in the specialized training week, which included approximately 170 training hours distributed over about 40 workshops for leaders and teachers, and nearly 20 workshops for supporting jobs.
The next academic year will also witness the implementation of the educational competencies evaluation project for school cadres, which targets more than 12 thousand kindergarten cadres and the first episode, and about 11 thousand of the cadres of the second and third episodes, with the aim of defining clear professional paths, and enabling them in line with the requirements of the national educational system.
