The State Attorney General warns against circulating pictures and clips of accident sites or misleading materials through digital platforms

Abu Dhabi, 6 March / WAM / His Excellency Counselor Dr. Hamad Saif Al Shamsi, Attorney General of the State, warned against photographing, publishing or circulating pictures and video clips documenting the sites of accidents or damage resulting from the fall of projectiles or shrapnel in some areas, stressing that publishing such materials or circulating inaccurate information about them may create panic among members of society and give an incorrect impression of the reality of the situation in the country.
He also stressed that the competent state institutions carry out their tasks with high efficiency to ensure the security of society and the safety of its members, and that public life is proceeding normally while taking the necessary measures to deal with any developments, indicating that dealing with these incidents is carried out by the concerned authorities within security and defensive measures, which requires refraining from photographing their locations or publishing them on digital platforms because this may harm the response and response efforts undertaken by the competent authorities.
The Attorney General explained, in a statement, that it was observed during the past few days that some individuals continued to photograph accident sites and publish them on social media platforms despite warnings and notices issued by the competent authorities prohibiting the circulation of such materials.
He stressed that publishing or circulating these clips or misleading information is considered behavior that violates the law if it results in causing panic among people, publishing incorrect news, or harming security and public order. He called on citizens and residents to refrain from filming, publishing, or recirculating any photos or video clips related to the sites of accidents or damages, stressing that violating this may expose the perpetrators to legal accountability in accordance with the applicable legislation.
The Public Prosecutor also warned against publishing or circulating artificial clips or scenes using artificial intelligence techniques or other means of digital manipulation, including claiming that missiles had fallen, targeting facilities inside the country, or attributing events that did not occur in reality, stressing that fabricating or publishing such materials with the intention of misleading or causing panic is a crime punishable by law, and that the Public Prosecution will take legal measures against those who commit them without complacency.
The Attorney General called on citizens and residents to abide by the provisions of the law and to obtain information from official sources, in a way that contributes to protecting society and maintaining its security and stability.
