Abdullah bin Zayed discusses, during phone calls with a number of foreign ministers, the situation in the region
Abu Dhabi, 6 March / WAM / His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, discussed during phone calls with a number of foreign ministers the current regional and international developments, and the situation in the region in the wake of the blatant Iranian missile attacks that targeted the UAE and a number of countries in the region.
His Highness held telephone discussions with His Excellency Jo Hyun, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the sisterly Republic of Korea, His Excellency Ararat Mirzoyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, His Excellency Giorgos Grapetritis, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Greece, His Excellency Lars Løkke Rasmussen, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Denmark, His Excellency Gabriela Sommerfeld, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Human Mobility of the Republic of Ecuador, His Excellency Bruno Rodriguez, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cuba, and His Excellency Eraun Behin Yusuf, Second Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Sultanate. His Highness and their Excellencies the ministers exchanged views on the current developments in the region and their effects on regional stability, the global economy and the security of energy supplies, and discussed the importance of joint action to enhance international endeavors aimed at establishing security and stability in the region.
His Highness and their Excellencies the ministers condemned and strongly denounced the blatant Iranian missile attacks that targeted the UAE and a number of countries in the region, affirming their categorical rejection of such actions that constitute a flagrant violation of the principles of international law and the Charter of the United Nations, and a direct threat to the security and stability of countries.
They also stressed the right of countries that have been subjected to these attacks to take the necessary measures to protect their sovereignty and territorial integrity, and to maintain the security of their citizens, residents and visitors, in accordance with what is guaranteed by international law.
His Highness and their Excellencies the ministers discussed the importance of the international community coming together at this stage, intensifying diplomatic and political efforts, and supporting peaceful paths and responsible dialogue in a way that contributes to enhancing regional security and stability.
During the communications, His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan expressed his appreciation for the positions of solidarity and support expressed by their Excellencies the Ministers towards the UAE, stressing the safety of all residents and visitors in the country, and reiterating the UAE’s commitment to working with its partners in the international community to consolidate the foundations of security and stability in the region.
