Flexibility in government employees to accompany their children to school

The Federal Authority for Governmental Human Resources granted the employees of the ministries and the federal authorities flexibility in attendance and departure, during the first week of the academic year (from the primary stage and above), allowing them to approve their children to schools and return them, provided that the flexibility hours do not exceed three hours, taking into account the different dates of the start of the school year between the different curricula, and on the condition of the approval of the direct manager according to the systems in force in the region.

The authority said, in a circular on the policy of “returning to schools” for the new academic year 2025-2026, which was seen by “Emirates Today”, that the decision to implement flexibility came based on the policy approved by the Council of Ministers, and in order to enable the employees of the ministries and federal authorities to support their student children, while maintaining the flow of workflow.

The circular stipulated that the flexibility be given to employees during the first week of the academic year with regard to accompanying children to nurseries and kindergarten or returning them to the home, so that the flexibility hours granted do not exceed three hours a day throughout the first week, while adhering to the controls of the federal authority, and the consent of the direct manager.

The circular indicated that employees can benefit from flexible permissions that do not exceed three hours in some educational occasions for children, most notably attending the meetings of parents, to activate the regulations of parents, and participate in graduation activities, occasions and student activities.

The Federal Authority for Governmental Human Resources affirmed its keenness to support the ministries and the federal authorities in implementing this policy, in a way that balances the requirements of work and the needs of family employees, noting that it has allocated channels for communication and inquiries through the Unified Communication Center (600525524), the customer happiness system (CHS), and its official website.
