Korea exports increased by 7.6% during the first 20 days of August

Seoul on August 21/ WAM/ The Republic of Korea’s exports increased by 7.6% on an annual basis on the first 20 days of this August, thanks to the good performance in the semiconductor and cars sectors, according to data from the Korean Customs Agency today.
The value of exports amounted to 35.5 billion dollars during the period from 1 to 20 of this month, compared to 33 billion dollars during the same period last year.
The Korean “Yonhap” news agency reported that the daily average of exports increased by 7.6% on an annual basis to 2.45 billion dollars during the first twentieth days of this month, and the number of working days reached 14.5 days this year without change from the previous year, while imports increased by 0.4% on an annual basis to 34.7 billion dollars during the mentioned period, which led to a trade surplus of 800 million dollars.
Exports from semiconductors jumped by 29.5% on an annual basis to 8.71 billion dollars during the first 20 days of August, and car and ship exports increased by 21.7% and 28.9% to 2.77 billion dollars and $ 2.3 billion, respectively, while exports of petroleum products and mobile devices decreased by 3.9% and 11.6%, respectively.
