Abu Dhabi, August 23 / WAM / The world is witnessing a qualitative shift in the education sector with artificial intelligence entering educational curricula in schools, as it begins with the start of the academic year 2025-2026 in the UAE teaching artificial intelligence in state schools, after announcing its inclusion as a course within the educational system of government schools, from kindergarten to the twelfth grade.
This trend aims to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to understand the principles of artificial intelligence and its applications in daily life, in order to keep pace with the state’s vision in enabling them to interact with the variables of the times and make innovative solutions.
The Ministry of Education revealed that about 1,000 teachers will teach the curriculum at various academic levels, ensuring a systematic implementation that covers all grades.
The Emirati approach to artificial intelligence covers 7 major fields, including basic concepts, data and algorithms, software use, moral awareness, realistic applications, innovation and project design, as well as policies and societal connection, taking into account the different age groups and the nature of skills and knowledge required by each study stage.
The UAE is one of the world’s leading countries that include artificial intelligence as a study subject within the curricula of school education.
In the same context, many countries of the world have begun to enhance the teaching of artificial intelligence in schools, whether as an independent academic subject or as part of other subjects. For example, India launched the “Soar” initiative for students from the sixth to the twelfth to enhance culture about artificial intelligence, while Singapore decided to integrate units from artificial intelligence within the computer science curriculum in the first episode.
Australia has adopted a national framework for artificial intelligence in schools, and the United Kingdom launched the “Techfirmst” program to train a million high school students on the skills of artificial intelligence, as well as several African countries, including Rwanda, have implemented initiatives to integrate the concepts of artificial intelligence into technology curricula in schools, while the Arab Republic of Egypt announced the application of artificial intelligence and programming as a basic material in the first secondary school As of the new academic year.
In addition, tomorrow, Monday, the new academic year 2025 – 2026, starts in all state schools, including a set of updates supporting national efforts to establish an advanced and innovative educational system, keeping pace with national priorities and contributing to promoting the competitiveness of education.

These updates came after coordination with a number of higher education institutions in the country, with the aim of ensuring the flow of the student from the public education stage to the university stage and then to the labor market easily and conveniently.
The new academic year is witnessing the start of the application of a new structure for the school evaluation, which includes fundamental amendments to the timetable for the leaves of the end of the classroom, with the aim of uniting them between public and private schools, and it is decided to cancel the central tests for the end of the second semester of all academic levels, and replace them with school final evaluation, with the aim of optimal benefit from school days, diversifying the tools of measuring students ’performance and improving the quality of their school life, as well On developing learning methods and teaching methods.
The updates also included the development of the national testing system, by adopting the standard efficiency test to measure the skills of Arabic, English and mathematics for students from the fourth to eleventh in public schools, provided that the first stage includes 26 thousand students.
