‘Dune: Part three’ to return to Abu Dhabi desert later this year

Abu Dhabi Film Commission has confirmed on social media that the dunes of Liwa desert will return to the big screen for the third installment of the ‘Dune’ movie franchise.

Legendary Entertainment said the “cinematic towering sand dunes and golden expansive horizon will once again capture the essence of the mythical planet of Arrakis” for Dune: Part Three“.

Filming in the desert city will begin later this year with Creative Media Authority Abu Dhabi and Abu Dhabi Film Commission providing essential logistical support, and Image Nation serving as production partner.

The film will benefit from the cashback rebate offered by the Abu Dhabi Film Commission, and is among a host of Hollywood movies filmed in Abu Dhabi recently, after F1 The Movie, and Now You See Me: Now You Don’t.

For Dune: Part Two, director Denis Villeneuve had filmed in Abu Dhabi for nearly a month.

Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya are set to reprise their roles in this latest installment, with Jason Momoa also confirmed he’ll be part of the third instalment.
