Dubai on September 1/ WAM/ Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, and Chairman of the Executive Council of the Emirate of Dubai. And societal at the emirate level.
The community sporting initiative launched by His Highness the beginning of August witnessed a global record in the Guinness Book of Records, on the category of the largest running race of its kind in a commercial center, in a new achievement added to Dubai’s record of global successes and enhances the emirate’s position on the map of innovative sporting and societal events.
The world record achieved after an exceptional community participation in the race, which was hosted by “Dubai Hills Mall” and attracted 1,392 people of all ages and nationalities, within the final activities of the initiative.
His Excellency Dr. Sultan Al -Neyadi, Minister of State for Youth Affairs, praised the registration of “Dubai Moghon” a global record in the Guinness Book of Records, in light of the level of the great societal interaction that accompanied it, stressing that the initiative embodies the vision of the rational leadership in consolidating sports culture as a daily lifestyle, and reflects Dubai’s commitment to providing an inspiring environment that supports the physical and psychological health of members of society.
His Excellency said, “The great turnout of young people who formed the largest segment of the participants in Dubai, Moghon, confirms that they are the main driver of the success of societal initiatives in the country, and the most important element in formulating its present and building its future, and we count a lot on this generation in consolidating the values of community participation, and devoting the active lifestyle within the vision of our country for the future.”
He added, “Sports is one of the most important areas in which young people find what inspires and expresses them, as it is the true breathing for them, and the best way to empty energies in a positive way, benefiting from their physical and psychological health, and strengthens their active presence in society.”
For his part, His Excellency Khalfan Belhoul, Vice -President of Dubai Sports Council, praised the success of the ‘Dubai Mogon’ initiative in achieving a global record, stressing that this achievement constitutes a qualitative addition to the Dubai march in the field of community sport, and reflects its position as a global destination to launch innovative initiatives that have a sustainable impact on society.
His Excellency pointed out that the support and directives of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Muhammad formed the primary and most important factor behind the success of the initiative, through the clear vision that it established in making sport part of the daily culture of society, and a tool to enhance the interdependence and positive interaction between its various categories.
He said, “We are proud of the Dubai Sports Council with this great achievement, and we confirm our commitment to supporting such qualitative initiatives and expanding their scope in a way that contributes to achieving leadership vision for a healthier and happier society, and in a way that establishes the position of Dubai as a global capital of community sport, and a first destination for organizing innovative events that combine competitiveness and societal spirit, and enhances the quality of life for members of society.”
The initiative’s activities concluded with a remarkable success that lasted for 31 polarized days, more than 40 thousand participants of various nationalities and ages, who together were able to register more than 120 million steps, within safe and air -conditioned internal paths, completely equipped to run and walk within nine major shopping centers in various parts of Dubai, which confirms the success of the leading community sports initiative in achieving its goals by enhancing community awareness of the importance of activity Physical, commitment to a healthy and sustainable lifestyle.
The closing activities witnessed the organization of a marathon for a distance of 42 km in which 40 contestants from different groups participated, where the runner Victor Kiprono crowned the first place, while Godfrey Siegoli came in second place, and the third Rio Watson came from the owners of determination who performed a distinct performance that reflects the competitive atmosphere and the spirit of challenge that characterized the race atmosphere.
At the end of the marathon, the winners were honored and valuable prizes were presented in appreciation of their achievements and an encouragement of their sports talents.
The initiative also included organizing various societal races and activities, the most prominent of which was the private race held in cooperation with the Dubai Sports Council on the occasion of “Emirati Women’s Day”, which was devoted to women of all ages and nationalities.
In addition, the initiative witnessed a remarkable participation of many ministries and government agencies including the Dubai Police, the Roads and Transport Authority, the Department of Economy and Tourism, the Dubai Ambulance Corporation, in addition to the Department of Islamic Affairs and Charitable Action, the Dubai Future Foundation, the Culture and Arts Authority, the Community Development Authority, the General Administration of Civil Defense and others.
The youth councils from the various emirates of the state also joined the events, including the Abu Dhabi Youth Council, Ajman Youth Councils, Ras Al -Khaimah, Fujairah and Umm Al Quwain, and the Edge Group Youth Council, which reflects the comprehensive national presence, and supports the initiative’s message in spreading a culture of physical activity as a lifestyle at the state level.
The events were held under the official sponsorship of the Ministry of Defense, and in partnership with the Dubai Sports Council throughout August and daily in nine commercial centers that included: Dubai Mall, the Mall of the Emirates, Dubai Hills Mall, and the spring market, City Center Deira, City Center Mirdif, Dubai Marina Mall, Dubai Festival City, and Petsfal Plaza, where internal paths were allocated with distance A total exceeding 10 kilometers, from 7:00 am to 10:00 am.
The launch of the “Dubai Moghon” initiative came in line with the targets of “The Year of Society”, “Dubai Social Agency 33” and “The Quality of Life Strategy in Dubai 2033”, which aims to build a healthy and socially active society, through an interactive societal movement that establishes the values of healthy life, and establishes the concept of sport as a daily habit that contributes to improving the quality of life.
