The United Nations Women’s Communication Office celebrates the strategic partnership with the UAE

Abu Dhabi, September 2 / WAM / The UAE has close relations with the United Nations Women since its foundation in 2010, where it provided approximately 60 million US dollars for its basic budget, believing in the importance of supporting the authority and enabling it to carry out its tasks and implement its strategy in achieving gender equality and empowering women at the regional and international levels.
Concluded with the passage of a year after the launch of the strategic partnership framework “2024-2027” between the UAE and the United Nations Women, the United Nations Women’s Communication Office for the Gulf Cooperation Council states today celebrated the 15th anniversary of the establishment of the authority.
The strategic partnership between the UAE and the United Nations Women’s Authority is a milestone that reflects the depth of close cooperation and firm commitment to supporting women’s empowerment and enhancing gender balance at the regional and global levels.
The strategic partnership framework was launched with funding from the UAE of $ 15 million, to become the largest contributor from the Arab countries region in supporting the United Nations Women, based on the priorities of the UAE national and the strategic plan for the authority “2022-2025”, and is based on five main axes that include: integrating the needs of women and girls in foreign policies, promoting sustainable peace, supporting the economic empowerment of women, enhancing their presence in climate work,, In addition to supporting and strengthening the role of the communication office in Abu Dhabi.
His Excellency Noura Khalifa Al -Suwaidi, General Secretary of the General Women’s Union, stressed that celebrating this occasion embodies the depth of the rational leadership’s commitment to support women at the national, regional and international levels, praising the pioneering role of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak “Mother of the Emirates”, President of the General Women’s Union, President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, Supreme President of the Family Development Foundation, which put the empowerment of women at the heart of national action.
She said that the successes achieved in its first year have proven the impact of this global partnership, especially in the areas of foreign policy, peace, security, climate work and economic empowerment.
For its part, Dr. Moza Al -Shehhi, Director of the United Nations Women’s Communication Office for the Gulf Cooperation Council states, confirmed that the 15th anniversary of the establishment of the authority constitutes an important station to evaluate the achievements, praising the strategic partnership with the UAE, which resulted in concrete results that changed the lives of women and girls around the world.
During its first year, the partnership witnessed qualitative achievements in five main axes, which included the integration of gender equality into diplomatic work and external policies, enhancing the role of women in peace and security operations, and supporting sustainable economic empowerment for women, as well as enhancing their presence in climate work, and expanding the impact of the communication office in Abu Dhabi through innovative initiatives and strategic partnerships.
In partnership between the General Women’s Federation and the United Nations Women, a general overview of the gender balance of 2025 in both Arabic and English was issued, highlighting the most prominent achievements of the state and its leading global and regional position in the fields of peace and security, political and diplomatic participation, economic empowerment, education and health, stressing the UAE’s steadfast commitment to continue to support women inside and outside the country.
