المملكة: The conjunction of Venus and Jupiter adorns the Kingdom’s sky on Monday and Tuesday evening

Dr. Abdullah Al-Misnad, former professor of climate at Qassim University and vice president of the Weather and Climate Association, explained that The sky of the Kingdom will witness on the evening of Monday and Tuesday, corresponding to June 8 and 9, 2026, a remarkable astronomical phenomenon represented by the conjunction of the planets Venus and Jupiter in a wonderful scene that can be observed with the naked eye after sunset.

Details of the conjunction

The Musnad stated that The conjunctionwill appear on the western-northwestern side of the horizon about 30 to 45 minutes after sunset, specifically around eight o’clock in the evening, when the two planets will be approximately 16 degrees above the horizon.

He pointed out that the planet Venus will appear to the right of the astronomical scene and is brighter, while the planet Jupiter will appear to its left, separated by an angular distance estimated at only about 1.5 degrees, which makes the conjunction one of the most beautiful Astronomical observations that can be easily followed without the need for specialized monitoring devices.

He added that this type of conjunction occurs approximately every 13 months, but the monitoring conditions vary from time to time depending on the location of the two planets and their height in the sky.

Jupiter and Venus

He explained that Jupiter is the largest planet in the solar system, as its size is more than 1,300 times the size of the Earth, and it is about 1,300 times farther away from it. 930 million kilometers, while the size of the planet Venus is close to the size of the Earth by up to 95%, and it is about 75 million kilometers away from it during this period.

Professor Dr. Abdullah Al-Misnad confirmed that the strong brightness of Venus will make it appear approximately six times brighter than Jupiter, giving those interested in astronomy and observational amateurs the opportunity to enjoy a distinctive celestial scene that adorns the western horizon of the Kingdom during the evening period.
