A European fine of 2.95 billion euros on "Google" Because of her advertising hegemony

Brussels on September 5 / WAM / The European Commission imposed a record fine of 2.95 billion euros on the American company “Google”, because of its exploitation of its dominance in the advertising technology market, and the preference of its own services at the expense of competitors, which led to distortion of competition.
The Commission confirmed that Google’s control of major parts of the digital advertising system creates a conflict of fundamental interests that harm the market.
The Tersa Ribera, Vice -President of the European Commission, said that the commission has given the company until the beginning of next November to provide effective solutions, warning that Brussels will not hesitate to impose “strong treatments” that may reach the dismantling of some of the “Google” assets in the advertising sector, which was the option that was recommended in a preliminary indictment in 2023.
It is noteworthy that the decision, which comes amid political tensions and pressure, was postponed from the beginning of the week before its announcement today.
