Yemen – the United Nations is concerned about a new wave of detention by Ansar Allah

This came during the Grendberg meeting today in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, a number of accredited ambassadors to Yemen, including representatives of the five permanent members of the UN Security Council, which are China, the United States, the United Kingdom, France and the Russian Union.
UN spokesman Stephen Dujarric strongly condemned these measures and renewed the organization’s call to release immediately and without conditions for all employees arbitrary, including 23 employees who have been detained for years – some of them since 2021 – with employees of national and international non -governmental organizations, civil society organizations and diplomatic missions.
The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Volcker Turk said today that the illegal detention of United Nations employees in Yemen is a direct attack on the United Nations system.
He added in a letter to the Human Rights Council: “They must be released immediately and without registration or condition.”.
The hostile works between Ansar Allah and Israel
The United Nations Special Envoy to Yemen, Hans Grendberg, has also expressed concern about the hostile actions between Ansar Allah, the de facto powers of the Houthi and Israel. He stressed the need for unity at the international and regional levels to prevent further escalation and help enhance peace efforts in Yemen.
In his daily press conference, UN spokesman Stephen Dujarric pointed out greatly that the Houthi attacks targeting Israel, including an attack with a march and reported that it hit a seventh airport this month. Dujarric called for stopping these attacks.
He said that any additional escalation could exacerbate regional tensions in a way that destabilizes Yemen and the region. He stressed the need for all parties to respect international law, including international humanitarian law, at all times.
