New amendments to the requirements for building private housing in Abu Dhabi

The Department of Municipalities and Transport in Abu Dhabi announced a package of amendments to the requirements of building private housing, in the context of its initiatives aimed at enhancing family and societal bonds, in line with the “Year of Society” launched by the UAE government and embodies the leadership’s vision towards building a coherent and prosperous society.

The new amendments include allowing the addition of a closed session made of light materials on the surface floor without calculating them within the construction ratio, and reducing the front bounce of the villa to 1.5 meters, as well as the possibility of building a first floor or a basement for the hospitality supplement provided that it is not adjacent to the wall.

The amendments also include the exclusion of shading structures from the total coverage rate of construction, and allowing the construction of the roof floor by 100%, provided that it is obligated to rebound 1.5 from the side of the street, in addition to allowing the attachment of villas between the vouchers provided that the angel approves.

In this context, the department launched an awareness campaign aimed at introducing community members to the most prominent initiatives and design options that contribute to enhancing family ties, such as providing an additional villa construction service to care for parents within private housing vouchers, and the family wings system inside the villa, in addition to the service of multiple housing units for social cases that require flexible solutions.

The Executive Director of the Acting Planning and Infrastructure Sector at the Municipalities and Transport Department Abdullah Muhammad Al -Balushi stressed that these amendments come within the department’s vision to enhance the quality of life and support societal cohesion, where he said: “We seek through these updates to meet the needs of families in a flexible and modern way, supporting the values ​​of social solidarity and providing a residential environment that establishes the concept of the extended family.

This step is also consistent with the goals of the general society that enhances ties within families and supports at the same time the preservation of heritage and authentic values.

The Municipalities and Transport Department continues its efforts to launch qualitative programs and initiatives that support the balanced and sustainable lifestyle in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, and supports social infrastructure as a basic pillar in the comprehensive development process.
