The Secretary-General of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf praises the positions of Jordan, Egypt, Morocco and Britain in support of the Council countries in the face of Iranian aggression.

The Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, Jassem Mohammed Al-Budaiwi, confirmed that the joint Gulf ministerial meetings with the Jordanian, Egyptian, Moroccan and British sides, each separately, achieved positive results to strengthen relations between the two sides, praising their supportive and steadfast positions in standing with the GCC countries towards the brutal Iranian attacks.
Yesterday, joint ministerial meetings were held between the Gulf Cooperation Council, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the Arab Republic of Egypt, the Kingdom of Morocco, and the United Kingdom, each separately, via video conference, headed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Bahrain, Chairman of the current session of the Ministerial Council, Dr. Abdul Latif bin Rashid Al-Zayani, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Ayman Al-Safadi, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Dr. Badr Abdel-Ati, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs. African Cooperation and Moroccans Residing Abroad in the Kingdom of Morocco, Nasser Bourita, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Commonwealth and Development of the United Kingdom, Yvette Cooper, with the participation of the foreign ministers of the GCC countries.
The Secretary-General stated that these meetings were held in light of the dangerous and unprecedented escalation the region is facing regarding the unjust Iranian attacks that targeted the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan with missiles and drones that have been falling on our countries since February 28, 2026 AD, as these attacks affected civilian installations and vital sites, which led to injuries, loss of life, and massive material damage, in flagrant violation of international law and the principles of the international system based on respect for the sovereignty of states. and the integrity of its lands.
He also praised the strong positions of solidarity expressed by these brotherly and friendly countries against the sinful Iranian attacks, and their support for the measures taken by the GCC countries to defend their sovereignty and protect their security, stability, and the safety of their citizens and residents of their territories.
He stressed that these joint meetings made it clear that the danger of these attacks is not limited to the security of the GCC countries only, but extends to include a threat to the security of international navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, which is one of the most important strategic sea lanes in the world, through which a large proportion of global energy supplies pass. Also, targeting commercial ships and vital sea lanes represents a direct threat to the freedom of international navigation, and exposes global trade and global energy security to serious risks, which may have negative consequences on the global economy and the stability of international markets.
He pointed out that the joint meetings welcomed the issuance of Security Council Resolution No. 2817 (2026), which was approved by 136 countries, and condemned in the strongest terms the heinous attacks launched by the Islamic Republic of Iran on the lands of the United Arab Emirates, the Kingdom of Bahrain, the Sultanate of Oman, the State of Qatar, the State of Kuwait, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, as a violation of international law and a serious threat to international peace and security. He also condemned the Iranian attack on residential areas and targeting of notables. Civilian losses, which caused civilian casualties and damage to civilian buildings. The Security Council affirmed the right of the GCC countries and Jordan to self-defense, individually or collectively, in accordance with Article 51 of the United Nations Charter, calling on Iran to abide by the Security Council’s decision to immediately stop all attacks it launches against the GCC countries and Jordan, and also demanding that it immediately and unconditionally stop any provocation or threat to neighboring countries, including those that undermine navigational rights and freedoms, especially around roads. Vital marine areas, including the Strait of Hormuz and Bab al-Mandab.
He also mentioned that during these joint meetings, ways of strengthening relations were discussed, and he also touched on a number of current and future achievements and projects that were worked on with brotherly and friendly countries to serve common interests.
He recalled the Palestinian issue during the meetings, stressing that it will remain at the heart of our common priorities, noting the tireless efforts made by the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council and the Arab Republic of Egypt to end the war on the Gaza Strip, and affirming our firm support for implementing the tasks of the Peace Council in accordance with the comprehensive plan to end the conflict, pushing towards a just and lasting peace that affirms the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination and the establishment of an independent, sovereign Palestinian state on the borders of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital, based on To the resolutions of international legitimacy and to the Arab Peace Initiative, appreciating in this context the outcomes of the Peace Council meeting held on the nineteenth of February 2026 AD and the resulting directions in this file.
He also stressed that during the Gulf-Moroccan meeting, the Gulf Cooperation Council reaffirmed its firm position with regard to the territorial integrity of the Kingdom of Morocco regarding preserving the security and stability of the Kingdom of Morocco and its territorial integrity, and welcomed once again Security Council Resolution No. 2797, which established autonomy under Moroccan sovereignty as the sole basis for resolving this regional dispute, and its support for the efforts of the Secretary-General of the United Nations and his special personal envoy for the Sahara file aimed at facilitating and conducting negotiations on the basis of the Moroccan initiative for autonomy in implementation of the resolution. He explained that the joint meetings held today with brotherly and friendly countries also embodied the importance of the strategic partnership between the two sides in facing common security challenges, which requires continued coordination and cooperation, in the belief that diplomatic solutions and constructive dialogue remain the best way to address crises, especially the current crisis in the region.
