Estel launches the first experimental project in the world for electric heaters in the iron sector

Abu Dhabi, September 10/ WAM/ The Emstil Group, one of the largest companies listed in the field of iron production and building materials in the region, announced the conclusion of a strategic partnership with the Italian company “Danieli” specialized in metal industries technology, to launch the first experimental project to produce electric gas electric heater (EPGH) in the iron sector.

This experimental project is the first of its kind in the world in the iron industry, and at the same time it is an expandable model that can be adopted in future update plans. The EPGH experimental project replaces traditional natural gas heaters with an electrical substitute in the direct shortage (DRI) factories, which contributes to reducing more than 2,200 tons of carbon dioxide emissions annually using clean electricity.

The project’s experimental phase starts with a capacity of 1.3 megawatts, in preparation for later expansion to a capacity of 22.7 megawatts, paving the way for a qualitative shift in carbon removal efforts from thermal operations in the iron industry.

This innovation reflects the company’s commitment to reducing emissions by 40% by 2030 in its steel business sector, and it is an essential step within its most comprehensive strategy for sustainable iron.

The system was designed in cooperation with the Research and Development Department of Daniele Company, and underwent a series of simulations, testing and exact modeling to ensure the best performance within industrial environments.

On this occasion, Eng. Saeed Ghamran Saeed Al -Rumaithi, CEO of the Emstil Group, stressed the commitment to formulating the future of sustainable manufacturing, as this project represents an essential station in leading industrial carbon removal efforts in the UAE, explaining that the adoption of clean technologies that can be developed allows the group to accelerate its strategy for sustainable iron, and enables it to establish the state’s position as a global center for innovation in the field of innovation Sustainability, as it represents the goal of Emple aiming to cause a renewed industrial impact that enables them to contribute to building a more sustainable and prosperous world.

This initiative will be reinforced by Emstil’s position as a leading destination in the field of sustainable manufacturing, and confirms its commitment to drawing the features of a more flexible, sustainable, and friendly industrial future in the UAE and abroad, and the company has made tangible progress, as it succeeded in reducing the intensity of its emissions from the two ranges 1 and 2 by 23%.

By 2023, the total Emstil emissions from these two ranges amounted to 4.5 million tons of carbon dioxide, in a move that represents an important station within its career towards achieving net zero emissions.
