The Council of Ministers reshape the Emirates Research and Development Council to enhance the national innovation agenda

The Council of Ministers approved the reconstruction of the Emirates Research and Development Council headed by His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, in a move that reflects the UAE’s commitment to establishing its position as a leading global center in the field of research and development.
The Council includes a group of ministers and private sector leaders and the most prominent leading academic institutions.
According to its new assignment, the Council will define the priorities of the UAE in the field of research and development and setting a unified national framework for policies related to financing, moral aspects, legislation and governance, in a manner that ensures the compatibility of research programs in the government, the private sector and academic institutions with the targets of economic diversification and the vision of the Emirates Centenary 2071.
The Council will also supervise the federal financing channels and provide advice on tax incentives related to research and development, in addition to setting up regulations and policies that encourage the polarization of research competencies, in addition to measuring the performance of the state according to the most important global innovation indicators.
By enhancing cooperation between the entities locally and expanding international partnerships, the Council contributes to enhancing societal welfare in the UAE and serving all humanity, in addition to accelerating the pioneering pace of research and development and turning it into innovative solutions that make a tangible impact that benefits society.
In its new formation, the Council includes 18 members of the prestigious leaders, ministers and senior government officials and representatives of the academic and private sector, including His Excellency Faisal Abdulaziz Al -Bannai, Advisor to the President of the State for Strategic Research and Advanced Technology, who was appointed Secretary -General of the Council as well as his position as Secretary -General of the Technology Research Council in Abu Dhabi, His Excellency Dr. Sultan bin Ahmed Al Jaber, and His Excellency Sarah Bint Youssef Al -Amiri, His Excellency Khaldoun Khalifa Al -Mubarak, His Excellency Abdul Rahman bin Muhammad Al Owais, His Excellency Muhammad bin Hadi Al -Husseini, His Excellency Abdullah bin Touq Al -Marri, His Excellency Dr. Abdul Rahman Abdul Mannan Al -Awar, His Excellency Muhammad Hassan Al -Suwaidi, His Excellency Muhammad bin Mubarak bin Fadel Al Mazrouei, His Excellency Talal Hamid Al Hall Al -Falasi, His Excellency Badr Salim Al -Ulama, His Excellency Shehab Issa Abu Shihab Al -Suwaidi, Dr. Maha Tayseer Barakat, Mr. Beng Xiao, representatives of the United Arab Emirates University, Khalifa University of Science and Technology, Mohammed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence and Mohammed bin Rashid University for Medicine and Health Sciences.
Member experience covers sectors that include public policies, advanced industries, finance, artificial intelligence, energy, health sciences and education, which are vital sectors that support the construction of a flexible and varied Emirati economy.
In this regard, His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan said: “The re -formation of the council reflects the intention of the UAE’s intention to build an integrated and high -influential research and development system, in a way that accelerates the pace of economic diversification, promoting strategic independence and consolidating the pioneering position of the UAE in the scene of global innovation.”
His Highness added: “Through the alignment of policies, resources and partnerships within a unified platform, we will double the economic and social impact of science and technology, in a way that benefits the UAE and the world.”
For his part, His Excellency Faisal Al -Bannai said that the new assignment of the council represents a qualitative shift towards converting national aspirations into a practical reality, by finding a unified portal for federal research and development programs and coordination of legislation between different sectors and promoting cooperation between the public and private sectors and the adoption of research and development priorities at the national level, and this integrated approach will establish the position of the United Arab Emirates as a global preferred test destination for technical innovations Advanced and an attractive environment for specific investments.
And based on its role as a supreme federal authority responsible for directing the national strategy for research and development, the Council reinforces the growing role of the UAE in the global system for research and innovation, by supporting policies, stimulating cooperation and enabling technologies with a real impact at the local and international levels.
