The Austrian National Bank is expected to grow 0.3% in 2025 and 0.8% in 2026

Vienna, September 12 / WAM / The Austrian National Bank expected that the local economy will record a slight growth in GDP by 0.3% for the current year 2025, to avoid entering into a third year of recession, after a stronger economic performance than expected in the first half of the year.
Martin Kakhr, Governor of the Austrian National Bank, explained that the local economy recorded a slight growth in the first six months of 2025 after about two years of recession, which violates previous expectations that suggest a slight decline, which necessitated the amendment of the current expectations.
In its future outlook, the bank suggested that economic growth slightly accelerate to 0.8% in the next year 2026, then to 1.1% in 2027.
Despite these positive expectations, the governor pointed to the continuing risks and uncertainty that surrounds the economic scene, due to the geopolitical developments and possible unrest related to American customs duties.
