Banks impose a “minimum balance fee” on accounts that we have not asked to open

Dealers said that banks impose a “minimum balance” fee on bank accounts that were not informed of them, when they are submitted to obtain credit cards, which caused the accumulation of “negative balances” that appear in the credit report and reduce the evaluation number.
They explained to «Emirates Today» that their relationship with these banks is related to credit cards only, without salary transfer, or a use of the bank account accompanying the card in any financial transfers or transactions.
They affirmed that bank employees did not inform them when they submit a credit card request, whether they wanted to open a bank account or not in the bank’s exporting bank, calling on the departments of these banks to emphasize marketing employees, to commit to reviewing the customer on the basic, fundamental and all items, which relate to banking transactions.
For his part, the banker Tamer Abu Bakr said: “The customer has a basic role when dealing with banks, to read all the papers and documents, and the conditions and conditions before the signature, and this is the first step to be taken.”
He added: «Obtaining credit cards is not required with him to open a bank account, as long as the customer does not ask for that, but some bank employees do this without informing the customer, and it is customary that the card is granted only with a number known as (customer number), meaning that the accompanying bank account is of no importance, and there is no need for more than the card.
Abu Bakr continued: “If the customer does not use the account, accumulates the minimum fees for the balance, and the negative appeared in his credit report, he can file a complaint with the customer service center in the bank from which he obtained a credit card, and demanding the cancellation of the full fees, as he did not use the account, as it can be closed and thus his data is updated with the credit information company, but if the customer uses the account and exists there The bank has the right to impose a monthly fee. ”
In turn, the banker Muhammad Ghazi said: “The banks do not require the customer or impose it on it to open a bank account in exchange for a credit card, so selling is made for only one product and according to what is known as (customer number), but sometimes the customer himself requests to open an account accompanying the credit card, to facilitate payment of the payments due and deduction in the interest of the card, and here the minimum fee for the balance is imposed. The balance is complete, the negative drawing appears in its credit report. ”
He continued: «Some banks grant the customer, who obtained a credit card and opened an account, a period without imposing a minimum balance fee of six months, and then they begin to impose the fee, and in return there are other banks that impose the drawing from the first month, and when it accumulates with negative, another drawing is imposed on the negative balance itself, and both drawings appear in the credit report so that the customer is surprised that the customer number Low as a result of the accumulation of fees for the open account.
Ghazi stressed the importance of the customer read the terms of contracting well with the bank before taking any banking product, and if he does not want a bank account accompanying the credit card, he refuses from the beginning or if he does not use it, he can demand to close it and cancel any imposed fees, as long as he is not informed of it, and no dealings occurred to him.
• Two banks: Granting cards with “customer number” is sufficient, and the bank does not have the right to impose a drawing on the unused account.
