In a French partnership .. the UAE enhances the scientific capabilities of the explorer "Rashid 2"

Dubai, September 18 / WAM / The Mohammed bin Rashid Space Center announced the expansion of its cooperation with the National Center for Space Studies in France, with the aim of providing the task of the “Rashid 2” explorer with innovative technologies that enhance its scientific capabilities and operational efficiency.

This comes within the framework of the center’s continuous preparations for the mission of the explorer “Rashid 2” within the Emirates project to explore the moon to be launched in 2026.

In a translation of this cooperation, His Excellency Salem Hamid Al -Marri, Director General of the Center, and Lionel Sushche, Executive Vice President of the French Center, signed a memorandum of understanding on the sidelines of the World Space Sector Week in Paris.

Under the Memorandum of Understanding, the French Center will provide the explorer “Rashid 2” with two cameras and the CASPEX unit, which is advanced equipment that has proven effective in previous space missions, which supports image processing and achieving the scientific goals of the mission on the moon.

This cooperation comes as a continuation of the successful partnership that started between the two sides on the task of “Rashid 1”, where the “Rashid 2” work team has already undergone the thermal vacuum tests in the facilities of the French Center in Toulouse, to ensure the efficiency of the work of the explorer in the harsh lunar environment.

This partnership is part of the broader strategy of the task, which witnessed earlier signing a strategic agreement with Fireflai Airbis to provide the landing platform that will download the explorer “Rashid 2” on the distant side of the moon, in the presence of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, President of the Mohammed bin Rashid Space Center, which establishes the UAE’s pioneering position in the field of Explore space.
