Abdullah bin Zayed stresses the UAE’s commitment to support joint efforts to build a more peaceful, sustainable and comprehensive world

His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs will be chaired by the UAE delegation participating in the eighties of the United Nations General Assembly, which will be held from 22 to 29 September in New York.

The UAE delegation, along with member states and officials of the United Nations and the relevant partners, participate in discussions that focus on urgent global challenges, and ways to enhance collective international work to find common solutions to them, and discussions also focus on ways to face international peace and security threats.

The UAE’s priorities in this session are consistent with its steadfast approach in promoting multilateral action, and includes: United Nations reform to become more efficient and effective, enhance humanitarian work, resolve conflicts, promote peaceful coexistence, support empowerment of women in the fields of international peace and security, sustainable development, facilitate international cooperation and take measures to meet the challenges of climate change and water.

In this context, His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan stressed that international cooperation is an essential pillar to address the current global challenges and find sustainable solutions to them, stressing the UAE’s commitment to support joint efforts to build a more peaceful, sustainable and comprehensive world.

His Highness also stressed the consensus of the UAE’s directions with the United Nations Initiative 80, stressing the state’s keenness to support a more efficient and effective international system, capable of achieving its basic goals under the Charter, and supports the principles of international law.

His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan added: When we look to the next eight decades, the United Nations must be more efficient, efficient and effective, capable of leading teamwork, unifying international efforts, and turning today’s challenges into opportunities to build a better world for future generations.

The UAE delegation will participate in the current session in many high -level meetings, including: the two -state solution conference, the climate summit of action launched by the Secretary -General of the United Nations, the celebration of the eighties of the founding of the United Nations, the thirtieth anniversary of the Fourth United Nations World Conference on Women, and the launch of global dialogue on the governance of artificial intelligence.

Ambassador Mohamed Abu Shahab, the permanent representative of the UAE to the United Nations, said: The UAE’s priorities in the current session of the General Assembly are based on a clear vision, according to which the multilateral action is the primary framework for addressing the interlocking crises the world faces.

He added: The United Nations General Assembly is a pivotal platform to address the urgent challenges facing international peace and security, and those that hinder the progress in implementing the sustainable development goals, and in this context, enhancing the pluralism of parties and adhering to the principles of the United Nations Charter is not an option, but rather a necessity to build a safer, more and prosperous future for all.

He affirmed the firm commitment of the UAE to support common solutions to global challenges, as it is a basic pillar in its diplomatic approach.
