“We will discuss ending the war in Gaza … and we may end it now.”
US President Donald Trump said, during a meeting with the leaders of Arab and Islamic countries, including the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, that his country will end the war in the Gaza Strip.
Trump added that this meeting, which took place on the sidelines of the meetings of the United Nations General Assembly in New York yesterday, represents “my most important meeting for me.”
“This meeting will be important and we will discuss ending the war and may end it now,” Trump said at the beginning of the meeting.
For his part, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that Trump’s meeting with the leaders of Islamic countries on Gaza was “very fruitful.”
Türkiye, a NATO member, criticized the Israeli attacks on Gaza, describing it as a group extermination.
Speaking to journalists in New York after the meeting, Erdogan said that he would be published a joint statement issued by the meeting and that he was “pleased” with his results, but he did not have details.
