"Bido" You get self -driving licenses in Dubai

Dubai, September 25 / WAM / Bido announced that its smart mobility platform “Apollo Joe” obtained the first official statement of self -driving experiences in Dubai, in addition to the first batch consisting of 50 licensing testing for self -driving vehicles, issued by the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority.

Ahmed Hashem Behrouzian, Executive Director of the Public Transportation Corporation at the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority, explained that the fifty declaration and licenses were granted to the company last July, which allowed it to publish its vehicles in urban areas in Dubai, where the “Apollo Joe” fleet of 50 vehicles since August began experiments on specific roads within the city.

The announcement came during the fourth session of the Dubai World Self -Driving Conference, as “Apollo Joe” is the only platform authorized to implement operational experiments on public roads, and to provide exclusive experimental trips using the sixth generation of its self -driving vehicles (RT6).

“We are pleased to add a new dimension to the public transport system in Dubai, in cooperation with the Roads and Transport Authority, we will rely on our experiences in self -driving techniques and fleet management to implement all the required operational tests, in a way that ensures the smooth resettlement of this service, In partnership with the authority, we seek to build a global model in smart transport and contribute to the consolidation of Dubai’s position as a world leader in the field of self -vehicle.

The permit represents a historical moment, as “Apollo Joe” became the first platform to be allowed to operate a large -scale fleet in the streets of Dubai, in a move that comes as a continuation of the memorandum of understanding signed with the authority last March.

Bido, in cooperation with the authority, plans to expand the fleet to include more than 1,000 self -driving vehicles completely by 2028, in line with Dubai’s vision to accelerate the adoption of smart transportation in future infrastructure.

Zang explained that the authority has set a professional organizational framework based on the main data and indicators of performance, to ensure the safety of the self -system before allowing the public service, including stages that begin with the presence of a driver who is honored behind the steering wheel, to the tests without a driver, then commercial operation.

He added that the number of vehicles expected in the next stage at the start of commercial operations in 2026 will depend on the service areas, as the authority has set four operating areas, while tests are currently taking place in the first and second areas with plans to expand later to the third and fourth.

He pointed out that the size of the commercial fleet will be affected by two main factors, the scope of the operating areas and the form of partnerships with the local authorities, stressing that “Baido Apollo” is working with an open mindset with partners in Dubai to support future expansion.

He emphasized that the standards of performance evaluation during the trial operation period include the severed distance, the rate of critical accidents, the range of operating areas, and the number of participating vehicles, indicating that all these indicators are collected to assess the extent of adequacy of tests in terms of safety and efficiency, according to the instructions and regulations approved by the authority.

It is reported that the move represented the latest achievement in the global expansion of “Apollo Joe”, after in November 2024 it obtained the first license to test the Hong Kong self -driving test, the first entry to the right -wheel vehicle market.

Apollo Joe has a record of more than 200 million kilometers of safe driving, offering 14 million self -trips to the public, and operating fully urban fleets of self -vehicles in China.
