During his presidency, he launched the Comprehensive National Dialogue Conference in an attempt to bring together the various Yemeni forces to A shared vision for the future of the country, in a step that reflected his belief in the importance of dialogue as a path to address national crises and build a political consensus that guarantees Yemen’s stability and unity.

With the escalation of events and the Houthis taking control of the capital, Sana’a, in 2014, the country entered a new phase of the conflict, with Hadi becoming the internationally recognized president, and he led the legitimate authority during the years of war, defending state institutions and the unity of Yemen, and adhering to the path of restoring stability and ending the coup against legitimacy.

Yemeni-Saudi relations formed one of the basic pillars of his political positions, as he was constantly keen to emphasize the strength of the relationship between the two countries, describing it as a relationship based on brotherhood, neighborhood, and a common destiny.

He also appreciated the role played by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in supporting Yemen and upholding legitimacy, stressing on more than one occasion that what brings the two countries together goes beyond the limits of political interests to established historical and humanitarian ties.

The Alliance to Support Legitimacy

He praised Hadi repeatedly praised the efforts of the Kingdom and the Coalition to Support Legitimacy in supporting Yemen during the difficult circumstances that the country went through, considering that cooperation between the two sides represents an important pillar for maintaining the security and stability of Yemen and the region, and affirming his confidence in the role played by the Kingdom under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and His Highness the Crown Prince – may God protect them – to support solutions that serve the Yemeni people and preserve the unity of the country.

And in April In 2022, he announced the transfer of his powers to the Presidential Leadership Council, in a step that represented an important shift in the course of the internationally recognized authority, thus ending a phase that extended for a full decade of his presidency of the Republic of Yemen.
