Hamdan bin Zayed presides over the meeting of the Board of Directors of the Environment Authority – Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi, September 25/ WAM/ His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, a representative of the ruler in the Al Dhafra Region and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Environment Authority – Abu Dhabi, chaired the second meeting of the Authority’s Board of Directors for 2025. His Highness praised the authority’s role in establishing environmental values within the pillars of health, economy and society in the emirate, stressing its position in preserving the environment and enhancing its vision represented in preserving the prosperous environment of Abu Dhabi For future generations.
His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan praised the executive steps that the authority started at the beginning of the year in preparation for hosting the UAE under the patronage of His Highness, the President of the State, may God protect him, the World Conference for Nature Preservation in Abu Dhabi, with the support of the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment, and the organization of the International Federation for Conservation of Nature for the first time at the level of the Arab Gulf.
The UAE has won the hosting of the World Conference through the hosting file presented by the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment and the Environment Authority – Abu Dhabi, on behalf of the UAE government, and is expected to attract the conference, which includes 500 specialized sessions, about 10,000 participants and visitor from more than 140 countries in October 2025.
The organization of this conference in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi comes in an embodiment of the unlimited support that His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, may God protect him, for environmental and climate work, and consolidate the approach of wise leadership in protecting natural resources and preserving biological diversity as a basic pillar for achieving sustainable development.
The meeting was held at Al -Nakhil Palace, and was attended by Sheikh Rashid bin Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, His Excellency Mohammed Ahmed Al -Bawardi, Vice -Chairman of the Environment Authority – Abu Dhabi, His Excellency Muhammad Ali Al -Sharafa, Head of the Municipalities and Transport Department, His Excellency Major General Ahmed Saif bin Zaitoun Al Muhairi, Commander in Chief of Abu Dhabi Police, His Excellency Musabah Al Kaabi, Executive Director of the Department of Low Carbon and International Growth in ADNOC Al -Mansouri, Undersecretary of the Court of the Ruler in the Al -Dhafra region, His Excellency Issa Hamad Bushehab, Advisor to His Highness the Ruler’s representative in the Al -Dhafra region, and His Excellency Dr. Sheikha Salem Al Dhaheri, Secretary -General of the Environment Authority – Abu Dhabi.
In front of His Highness, the authority reviewed updates of its strategic plan for the period from 2026 to 2030, a plan that aims to support the future directions of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi by focusing on a group of basic axes that include facing climate change and enhancing the efficiency of natural resources use. The plan is seeking to ensure the continuity of the local environment’s continuity and raising its readiness to deal with future challenges, which contributes to enhancing Abu Dhabi’s position at the international level as a leading destination in environmental work.
His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan reviewed the latest developments and efforts made by the authority, and the distinguished results achieved by the fish farming project in Dalma, by employing artificial intelligence techniques for the first time in the region, by producing four types of local fish (Al -Safi, Al -Qa’ari and Al -Shahm) with a capacity of one hundred tons of fish. His Highness was briefed on the developments of the Abu Dhabi Culture Gardens Initiative, where more than 5,000 corses were revealed out of 40,000 targeted installations until the end of 2030, and more than 3,000 natural corals were established on tunnels to enhance marine biological diversity, in addition to the mechanisms of preserving geological formations known to the loaders, and the field surveys were completed that were completed 924 geological formations were documented as part of the efforts to preserve this natural legacy in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
The authority reviewed the modeling system to predict air quality that provides accurate simulation of sandstorms, allowing prediction levels of air pollution, especially transit pollutants before arriving at approximately 72 hours, in addition to a project to monitor random throwing sites of waste in the Al Ain area, which determines artificial intelligence and satellite images 150 sites for random throwing sites And the types of waste, so that the authority can achieve its strategic goal by reducing the random throwing cases by 90% in the emirate by 2041.
