Operating a new paper factory in “Kizad” next October

Star Biber Mills intends to announce the start of its new factory to produce the recycled paper container panels, with an investment of $ 54 million (200 million dirhams), in the economic areas of Khalifa in Abu Dhabi (Kizad), during the “Pro Bieber 2025” exhibition held from 13 to 15 October, where the completion rate of construction works reached 95%. The new factory will be held on an area of 59 thousand square meters, with a production capacity of 135 thousand tons annually from the recycled paper container panels. “We expect experimental production in this distinguished facility before the end of this year, with the gradual expansion to be expanded later.”
“This project reflects the vision of the UAE leadership in promoting sustainable industries,” Rashid added. It is designed according to the principles of the circular economy, as it mainly depends on the waste of the locally collected paper as a basic raw material. Through recycling household waste, the project will contribute to reducing dependence on import, supporting a vision (manufactured in the Emirates), and enhancing the country’s goals in protecting the environment.
The demand for paper bags and biasable alternatives in the Emirates and the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council is witnessing an accelerated increase, driven by governmental measures against monochrome plastic, and the increasing consumer preference for sustainable solutions. Market studies indicate an annual growth that ranges between 10 and 12%, with the UAE’s need alone to more than a billion paper bags annually. Independent data shows that the paper packaging market in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, which is currently estimated at 9.5 billion dollars, will reach about 13 billion dollars by 2032, with an annual growth rate of 3.8%.
